Rescue Barn is a Local New England Rescue Program whose focus is on rescue, rehabilitation, re-socialization, re-training and ultimately re-homing Purebred Mastiff Breeds (Molossers) with positive and natural methods: Bullmastiffs, Cane Corsos, Presa Canarios, English Mastiffs, and other Molossers, creating one survivor at a time....

Our Program features Mary Hannigan, Bullmastiff Owner/Breeder/R

ehabilitator who has lived with, raised, trained and exhibited Bullmastiffs since 1989. We encourage breed education and re-socialization within the original home environment prior to last resort surrendering. We have an extensive adoption process that includes adoptive owner education focusing on individual breed traits and temperament ~ matching with family environment, expectations and specific molosser breed traits…

Effort is put out tirelessly for the dogs that are accepted into our program. Through positive training methods and natural redirection we focus on reintroduction of acceptable behaviors in dogs that have become “difficult” due to social inappropriateness and misdirected and unwanted behavior. We work on a lengthy re-training program for each of our Rescue Residents which includes everything from proper nutrition, exercise and play to social interaction, manners and grooming prior to offering as available for adoption. Our Rescue Residents become an enormous part of our hearts and home; They are the thought that wakes us up in the middle of the night, the tears that don’t let us fall asleep, the morning wag that puts sunshine into the cloudiest of days, the frustration behind each new grey hair, the smiles that warm our hearts, the anger that keeps us wanting to help more and the joy that is unexplainable. They become the most important project that, with progress, setbacks and positive results, brings continued amazement and utmost reward. Rescue Barn cooperates and networks with veterinary and shelter referral as last resort evaluation and rehabilitation options prior to euthanasia. We accept dogs thru Owner Surrender, Veterinary Referral, Rescue Referral, Stray, ACO & Shelter Surrender. Every dog has his own growl; it's our responsibility to translate its true meaning.
