Brax is a 6 year old pure European Doberman whose main purpose in life is to spend quality time with his family. As much as he enjoys training, playing, and exploring new environments, what Brax loves most is being at home and cuddling as close as possible to his people.
Brax is a confident Doberman and will try to lead if not properly lead. His bloodline comprises of IPO and shutzhund champions. His owners should ideally be experienced Doberman owners who can advocate and protect Brax just as much as Brax wants to do for them.
The ideal home for Brax would be a home with an outdoor space large enough for him to explore, run around, and play fetch. As well an an indoor space that allows for him to be an integral part of the family.
Brax has a high prey-drive and so his home should not have cats.
His ideal home would have a female canine companion for him to share his life with (and hopefully play tug-of-war with).
Brax is not aggressive towards children, but he is also inexperienced around younger children and spatially unaware. Because of this, Brax’s ideal home should not have children under the age of 10-12 years old.
Brax is very well kennel trained.
Brax is a great on-leash walker. He primarily uses a gentle lead but also responds well with a herm sprenger. Brax will try to lead walks but for the past year has been trained to respond to walking cues in order to get him to heal by the walker’s left side.
Brax is overstimulated and reactive (barking, whining, crying) around other dogs while he is on-leash. This can make for a challenging walk around areas with frequent dog-walkers as Brax’s attention is away from his walker.
Off-leash, Brax has a consistent recall as long as his owners are aware of their surroundings and recall him preventively to any potential distractions. One of Brax’s favorite places to be is on the beach!
Brax’s Likes:
• Chuck-It brand glow in the dark balls
• freeze dried chicken treats
• playing fetch
• the beach
• playing in kiddy pools
• pumpkin puree
• being touched and cuddled by his “people” (belly and chest rubs)
• playing with other dogs (female and submissive males)
• Such (sookh) games - hiding balls, treats, etc. for him to find with the command “such” or “where is it”
• getting his ears cleaned

Brax’s dislikes:
• being in a car (he will whine and cry but eventually calm down)
• bananas and carrots
• strangers putting their face to his - I advocate for him around strangers and ask that they do not grab, touch, or put their face next to his. Brax has never snapped or nipped at a person but is visually uncomfortable with this particular action. He needs his space respected.
• cats
• being separated from his “people”
Brax is needing a new home due to no fault of his own. His family had several life changes this last year, and had to make the decision to rehome him.
Available in the Hillsboro, OR area.
