The Hive House is a family farm and beekeeping supply company based in Shepherdstown West Virginia. We are one of the areas most trusted suppliers of Queen Bees, Spring Nucs, Package bees as well as the local dealer and wholesaler of Mann Lake equipment and supplies. We partner with the USDA Beltsville Bee Lab, providing beehives for their continued research into honeybee health and we share our k

LEARN THE ART OF BEEKEEPING!!
FREE CLASSES STARTING NOV. 4th!

The Shepherdstown Library will be hosting a free beginner beekeeping class series every Monday in November!
The classes are taught by Jason Murphy of Hive House Apiaries. Classes will be held every Monday evening (4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th) starting at 6:30pm in the Commons Room at the Library in Shepherdstown.

This progressive course is designed to provide anyone with the necessary knowledge to start their own journey into keeping bees and will, week by week, cover history, necessary equipment, bee biology, hive inspections, and hive health practices.

Classes are free and open to the public, but class size is limited! Please register ahead of time by contacting [email protected]

Come discover the amazing world of the honeybee as well as a new passion in life.

Thursday night 8pm at Morgan’s Grove Park in Shepherdstown come see My Garden of a Thousand Bees!

If you haven’t seen this eye candy documentary about one man’s collection of bees in his garden you’re missing out!

This is a fundraiser for the Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association Scholarship fund that provides bees and hives each year to local youngsters interested in becoming beekeepers!!

Prosweet is on hand!!
Prosweet is a high sucrose sugar syrup that is our “go to” for dearth feeding and winter prep! Heavy syrup with the consistency of honey that makes feeding simpler and more effective as bees can add weight quick but still raise brood.
We will soon have buckets available. But BYOB is in effect!

FALL AND WINTER PREP!

Thursday August 1st at 7pm I’ll be at the Washington County Beekeepers Association meeting giving a presentation on what we do to prepare for winter starting NOW. The meeting is FREE and open to the public and is at the Community Building in Schaffer Park in Boonsboro, MD.

Swarm season requeening.

If you’re wondering about nucs We made this video about 10 days ago. Now it should say if yours were any time in December January, or February and into early March yours are in the field. We have a 2nd yard that’s got another 30 in it and making more tomorrow and Monday. I am hoping that by the end of next week I will have every nuc ordered out in the field and growing. Unfortunately, if you call me an ask when your specific ones will be ready I can’t tell you. With managing all of our hives and the hundreds of nucs, I can only know what’s right in front of me and I’m sending them out as they’re ready for each person. We’ve already delivered about 60 of them with more going out tomorrow and twice a week here on out.

We serve the local West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania area.
