Thursday night 8pm at Morgan’s Grove Park in Shepherdstown come see My Garden of a Thousand Bees!

If you haven’t seen this eye candy documentary about one man’s collection of bees in his garden you’re missing out!

This is a fundraiser for the Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association Scholarship fund that provides bees and hives each year to local youngsters interested in becoming beekeepers!!

Prosweet is on hand!!
Prosweet is a high sucrose sugar syrup that is our “go to” for dearth feeding and winter prep! Heavy syrup with the consistency of honey that makes feeding simpler and more effective as bees can add weight quick but still raise brood.
We will soon have buckets available. But BYOB is in effect!

4gallon buckets (48lbs) available soon. $50
BYOB 5 gallon (58-60lbs) $50
All BYOB will be outside shop hours by appointment.

Little late posting but I’ll be speaking tonight at the BONS meeting at 7pm.
They meet in the library at the Blandy research farm at the Virginia Arboretum south of Berryville.

The topic of the evening is Strategies for Growth: ways to increase the size or productivity of your apiary.

Beekeeping has brought some wonderful people into my life but few can rival the deep humility, humanity and kindness of Jeff McIntyre. I met Jeff a decade ago and soon learned that he was a rich depth of knowledge carried along by a deeply caring soul that offered whatever he could to those around him. I don’t think I’ve ever had a conversation with him where I didn’t learn something or a meeting that didn’t leave me feeling better about the world. He was a man of simple goodness with a poet’s soul and I am lucky to have known him. He is a friend that will be missed by anyone who knew him.
We are all poorer for his passing.

That’s a wrap for nucs!
Tonight was our final delivery of nuc orders for the season. This was our busiest Spring yet and we want to extend a heart felt THANK YOU to all the new and returning customers and friends for your support and trust in us!
It’s an honor to be a resource for so much of our community and we appreciate you immensely. As always, we are here for you throughout the season and if any of you have any issues or concerns please reach out. We’re here to help long after you get your bees home. Hope you all have a great season, you have already given us a great beginning to ours!

2nd pickup night for nucs happened tonight. The first of the deeps went out and almost two dozen more mediums. More this week coming.

On a lesser note, our packages for this weekend have been bumped to next weekend due to weather conditions that grinched things. Everyone should have an email about it already.

First two dozen nucs went out tonight. More going out Saturday and thru next week. We have about 120 in the field growing out! The weather gave us some delays but full ahead!

NUC UPDATE!!
We’ve already started about 70 nucs. The cool rainy weather the last few weeks has really slowed them, and us, down for the time being. Otherwise probably 30 would already be out the door. The weather is picking up next week and it’s full steam ahead!!
I’m sure some will start going out mid week to our earliest orders.

If you want to get in touch and ask “when will mine be ready?” We can only say you will know the very same day we know! After a decade of this I still can’t work out a reliable equation to multiply the number of bees, by the degree of nectar flow over the days with wax drawing temperatures, factored by queen productivity and number of nurse bees at work divided by each persons place in the queue to give an accurate date. 😂 But… they’re buzzing along and we expect ALOT of them moving out this month. We are as excited to get them to you as you are to get them!
