The mountain lion population is managed very well in our state with current regulations and quotas with a Game and Fish department that listens to its hunters and changes quotas appropriately to have healthy populations!

The last week has been very rough in regard to our Dog Family. Anyone who knows me, knows my dogs are my world and I invest a lot of time and money in them. They are my family and my lifestyle.
I’ve had Diamond since she was a puppy 17 years ago. She’s had year of hard miles chasing Lions, c***s, bobcats and Bear. Diamond also had the scars to prove she battled them all. Last week diamonds hips finally had enough and she had to be put down. Diamond was extra special to me as I got her from my dear cousin who passed away years ago.
We went hunting the next day and one of my dogs got caught in an Illegal trap set that was placed just feet from a public road. There is still a battle coming from that days event and I hope game and fish does their job. Luckily I got the dog out alive and she’s healing up nicely.
Emma took me by surprise today. She was my lead dog and truly loved me for rescuing her years ago. Not knowing her age I thought maybe she was 9 this year. Maybe she was older. I always had 100% faith this dog and she went crazy over cats. I thought I had at least 1-2 years left of hunting adventures but today I found she had passed away. She Treed her last lion a couple weeks ago with her 2 year old puppy by her side. I sure hope that hunt showed little Sage how it’s done and made her a finished Dog. RIP my Hunting Pals. “I Pray there is hunting in Heaven!”

Looking for kitty tracks and decided to get our Christmas tree. Without planing on tree hunting we didn’t have a saw. Turns out a knife and a hammer work pretty decent. It just made my knife a bit shorter.

With our mountain on fire it kind of ruined my normal hunting plans so I decided to try a new area with my cousin and it was a success. I’m glad to be able to still provide for my family given the wildfire circumstances. It’s not always about horns.

With Elk season creeping up on us and many other hunts planned around Little McLain arriving to this world soon, it was time to punch my deer tag. So many bucks to choose from and deciding which ones to let go to next year. This wide side buck decided to give me the perfect opportunity to get some meat in the freezer.
