Keystone, owned by Javier Berganza, focuses on selling quality imported hunter/jumpers as well as developing individual customized training programs for both horse and rider of any level.
Born in Mexico City, Javier Berganza was raised around horses. Hailing from a long line of horsemen, Javier grew up riding at his family's farm just north of Mexico City. His father, Jorge Berganza, imports and sells many horses, and Javier was a critical part of the training, riding, and showing of those horses throughout his junior career. He spent his summers in Europe riding, training and working with some of the best horsemen in the industry, including Luciana Diniz, Christophe Ameeuw, Nelson Pessoa, and Bo Kristoffersen. During his junior career he competed in the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships six times, medaling four of those times. He won his first grand prix at age sixteen and went on to qualify for the FEI Rolex World Cup Finals by the age of seventeen. In 2009, he represented his home country of Mexico in the FEI Nations Cup in Wellington and then decided to turn pro. Shortly after, he went to work for La Silla in Monterrey, Mexico as a rider where he qualified for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. He then went on to Germany where he rode with Olympic Medalist and European Champion Rolf-Göran Bengtsson for a short time before returning to the United States to continue with his riding career. He has spent the last five years in the United States training, importing, and showing horses, along with competing and placing in the grand prix ranks. Now based in Carmel, IN, Javier and Keystone are dedicated to providing meticulous horse care and customized training programs for riders of all levels, as well as developing and selling quality hunter, jumper and equitation horses.
