Your payment for that puppy went to keep these breeders in business.

Online breeders may advertise as:
small ▪️
family run ▪️
one litter a year ▪️
A rescue organization ▪️

It’s all pretend.

When you buy a puppy off the internet ❌or from any pet store ❌ you become the reason dogs will continue to live a life of torment.

What’s the solution?
✅ Rescue local from within your state
✅ Purchase from a LOCAL licensed breeder where you’re expected to drive and visit the home, meet the mama dog, get live references from other local buyers, contact their veterinarian, etc.

I was called by a member of the Splashway Team today about some dogs dumped and they needed to find a shelter or rescue today. I have made numerous calls for help trying to find fosters as I can’t take on any more here at the ranch. My friends at Lucies are full and they already do so much to help the community. Rescues are full and the people who would come forward are past their limit and taking care of more dogs they can handle. Colorado County does not have a shelter and I would have hoped in the 20 years I have lived here that things would be different…..cops don’t even go after people who dump their dogs even when we can provide license plates Sadly here we are. So I have spent a good portion of my day looking for a plan to help these pups. I was told by the splashwsy team member that a lot of dogs are dumped in this area as those of us who desl with animal issues here have known for years…. …You know Splashway is a huge presence in this community. So hey Carl Blahuta why don’t you sit down with the rescues and help us come up with a solutions ….It takes funds to pay for sick and injured dogs, funds to vaccinate, spay and neuter. Funds for dog food when donations are down. Resources beyond stretched thin people at the lical rescues trying to help. I hope these poor dogs are not dumped by Splashway

Is there Anyone out there who can help a 2 year old German Shepherd dog who in The owner ‘s words needs to be gotten rid of by this Friday. Tyler tells me the dog is not neutered you know I asked why … has to have a special diet and when asked if he was house trained I was told by Tyler yes he was but they keep him outside. Bet the poor dog was cold last week. Pm me for Tyler’s contact info Hope the dog isn’t dumped on the streets of Columbus

Good morning everyone. We have about 28 cats who live at the ranch here at Hooves and Hounds. We are in desperate need of cat food. Please help us feed the cats who live here. These cats have already been spayed and neutered. We have helped various cat groups over the years to provide a place for these cats to live Please help us feed these cats . The last group of kittens was left at our front gate a few months ago so we have added to our numbers.

We also need dog food to feed dogs and help our foster feed the fosters he has.

We get it. Raccoons are adorable and sweet and cuddly…when they’re young. They grow up, of course. Then they have the potential to be extremely destructive and even dangerous to household members. This is why raccoons do NOT make good pets.

When someone finds a baby raccoon, sometimes they decide to keep it and raise it as a pet. It may go well for a while, but when it gets older and begins chewing holes through bedroom doors or tearing into cabinets in the kitchen, they stop being so cute. When they bite or scratch people in the home, they stop being so cute. If a bite is reported, the raccoon will be euthanized due to the rabies risk. At some point, it becomes too much to deal with and we get a call asking if they can relinquish the raccoon to us.

Of course we will take it. However, now the raccoon has NO idea how to live in the wild and will be incredibly stressed as it is moved from the only home it’s ever known. That makes it extremely difficult to rehabilitate.

Please, please, PLEASE don’t try to raise a raccoon. It most likely won’t end well for you or the raccoon. Call us instead and let us raise and rehabilitate it so it has a chance at a wild life.

‼️ Remember, none of our animals are pets and it is illegal in Florida to own wildlife without proper permitting. ‼️

Little Archie left Texas in 2015 to be with the best family he could ever ask for. Archie loved his family and brought so much joy and happiness. We are keeping Michelle and Steve in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve their loss. We will see you on the other side Archie

UPDATE.
We need help with fosters who could help us for six weeks . The kittens are small and are getting out of their enclosure. Last night while I was rounding them up the mosquitos were unbearable and were swarming me and the kittens. We need some time to help them grow they are very friendly. Will provide kitten chow.

Surprise for us this morning. Four kittens left at our front gate. Two ran off. Friendly little kitties. Bathed them to get the fleas off. Please help with kitten chow. Not prepared for them.
