This sweet tailless kitten is Wylie. Wylie just had to have his tail docked because of an injury he came in to the shelter with. If you think you would like to bring Wylie home to recover at your house- call the shelter and make an appointment to adopt him. ❤️

The shelter is short staffed today so our trailer is running very late. Today we will have 3 puppies and 3 cats at our adoption site located at the Petco parking lot. Adoption fees are only $25 and all pets will be fully vetted.

Adoption fees for dogs are $50 and age permitting all dogs are heartworm tested, spayed/neutered, given flea preventative and vaccinations including rabies, and are microchipped.
Adoption fees for cats are $25 and age permitting all cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, spayed/ neutered, given flea preventative and vaccinations including rabies, and are microchipped.
As always, this weekly post includes some of the strays that are currently in our shelter so we appreciate if you can assist in finding their owners by sharing.

Update- Adopted

Last week four feral puppies were trapped by the shelter. These poor things had been living their entire lives alone in a secluded wooded area; they were malnourished, covered in fleas and ticks, and completely unsocialized. Thankfully the shelter had a foster willing to work with them.

Meet Halpert, Beasley, Bob Vance, and Phyllis. They have all been working on crate training and can use a dog door. Halpert is very outgoing and loves to play with all of the other dogs but is always willing to take a break for a head scratch. Beasley is the sweetest and while everyone else is rolling around she would rather be by her person. Bob Vance is the ring leader always trying to instigate a game of chase or tug of war. Phyllis is the smallest and probably the smartest of the four preferring to size up the situations before getting involved with playtime or pets.

Their father is a Black German Shepherd mix. It is unknown at the moment what the mother is but most of the puppies have short legs and long bodies. We assume they will be medium size dogs and they are 3-4months old.

Update- Adopted

This is a post for everyone that has been asking about small dogs... Meet Cookie and Happy. Cookie is listed as a 7 year old, female Boston Terrier mix and Happy is listed as a 5 year old, female Jack Russell mix. Happy’s owner recently passed away and the family could not afford to keep her. She is extremely shy in the shelter but warms up quickly. While Cookie’s previous owners say that she would do best in a home with no other animals.

Update: Adopted

This is Van. Van is a gorgeous 2 year old, blue eyed, pitty mix. Van wasn’t always this gorgeous though, when he came in to the shelter he was in pretty bad shape. He suffered from wounds all over his body and two very bad ear infections. However, with medical attention provided by the staff we got him cleaned up and GORGEOUS again. Van has been in the shelter since the middle of May and is patiently waiting for the person who will spoil him and make certain he never gets in the condition he was before. He is still a goofy puppy at heart who loves to play and give tons of kisses. If you feel that Van may be your match call us today at 903.792.7255 and make an appointment to visit us. ❤️

Update on Ollie: Thanks to donations from the Sherman community Ollie was able to have his surgery. Turns out that this sweet boy had an impacted tooth that caused a malformation of the jaw and lip. What we thought would be a surgery to repair a broken jaw turned out to be a surgery to remove a tooth and reform his lip. When he was brought in to the shelter he did not have full range of his tongue and mouth and was unable to groom himself. We are happy to report that now he is able to lap up water and clean himself like a normal kitten.

Ollie is available for adoption for only $25. His stitches come out next week and he has been vaccinated and neutered.

Update- these puppies were not adopted in the shelter today so they will be going out on our adoption trailer tomorrow, Sunday, July 12th.. ❤️ Adoptuon fee is only $25.

Visit us TODAY (Yes, Monday) at our mobile adoption site in the Petco parking lot! We will have more kittens and all of these sweet dogs. If you are looking for a new pet you are going to want to head out soon because we start setting up at 10am (and will only be there until 4). All pets will be $25 to adopt and they are microchipped, vaccinated, and altered.

Roy is an adorable terrier mix who isn’t quite 1 year old. He is medium size and extremely sweet.

Thelma and Louise are two older ladies who came in together as strays. Louise is very outgoing while Thelma is a little more reserved.

Goliath and Van are two handsome pitty mixes who are each extremely friendly. Van has blue eyes which makes him extra charming looking.

Poor Dexter... he has been out on the trailer for the last four days and for the last four days he has been overlooked. We are hoping today his forever someone will find him and fall in love. He is approximately 4 years old and is very friendly. He has never met a stranger... especially if that stranger can provide tummy rubs.

Reminder- the shelter is closed today because we are updating our covid operations to ensure the public's safety and the animals well being.

Update- Another great day! Dexter was the only guy left. Thank you to everyone who has come out and adopted one of our Sherman Shelter pets. ❤️

Want a good reason to get up and get moving this Sunday morning? We have one: Come visit us at our mobile adoption trailer located in the Sherman Town Center parking lot (in front of Petco)! We will have SEVEN kittens and all of these sweet dogs.

Leland is a seven year old Aussie mix who is a little shy but very devoted once he gets to know you.

Jam is a young retriever mix with a strong will and fun playful personality.

Bart is new to the shelter and shouldn’t last long. He is a young retriever mix that loves to engage with his people.

Oswald is a sweet 4 month old puppy that could use more socialization and a sweet family to teach him how to trust.

Harmony has been in the shelter for months which is baffling. She is only 4 years old and has the best personality. She loves people. She likes other dogs and she is as cute as a button.

Dexter is about 4 years old and a snuggle bug that adores belly rubs.

Come and meet everyone from 10am- 3pm today. They can’t wait to see you.

In less than 2 hours our trailer adopted out almost every pet sooo... we have replenished! We have 4 more kittens available and these super cute dogs. Stop by and see us now until 3pm.

Update- all of these animals (except one dog) have been adopted so we have brought new ones out to the trailer. 4 more kittens and 3 new dogs!

We recommend getting up, getting dressed, and getting over to the Petco parking lot!!! The adoption trailer sets up at 10am and will have FIVE kittens and two 4 month old brindle brothers. We will also have many wonderful adult dogs there waiting to find their new homes.

Remember: The shelter will be closed in to next week (we are updating our covid operations to ensure the public's safety and the animals well being) so pets will be available today at our mobile site from 10am until 3 pm, Sunday from 10am until 3pm and Monday from 10am to 4pm. All pets will only be $25 to adopt and they are microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and altered.

The shelter will be closed in to next week because we are updating our covid operations to ensure the public's safety and the animals well being. Because of this inconvenience, and in an effort to get our pets placed in to loving homes, we will be taking out the adoption trailer for additional days. Today our mobile site will be open (in the Petco parking lot) from 10am until 4pm. We will be taking out many puppies and kittens as well as some of our adult pets. Additional hours will be Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 3pm and Monday from 10am to 4pm. All pets will only be $25 to adopt and they are microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and altered.

Update- Thanks to the continued generosity of our animal loving community Ollie has received his x-rays, is on a whole host of new medications, and is awaiting surgery. He will need a medical foster once he is cleared so if you are interested in fostering this sweet baby for a short time please contact us and let us know.

HELP NEEDED! This sweet 10 week old kitten is Ollie. Something has happened to Ollie that may have broken his jaw and injured his hips. Ollie can still walk and eat and purr but he will need x-rays and a probable surgery. The shelter doesn’t have the funds to do this for him and are counting on the generosity of our Sherman community.
