We found foster placement for our rat friend, but we do not have the supplies on hand for her care. She is fine temporarily, but she needs to get out of the fish tank and be mentally stimulated with more than just a chew stick. Here are some things our new foster rat could use: 2 cubic ft cage 1/3 to 1/2 wire spacing (not a glass tank) Exercise ball Food bowl (glass/stainless) Food Bedding (no pine/cedar, paper based) Toys If you have any of these things that you are no longer in need of, we will happily take them off your hands. ❤️Available for Foster to Adopt❤️ Guys, for real, this dog has brought me so much joy. He is the silliest, boundary pushing, face kissing goofball I know. Otis has full on puppy energy, but he is VERY intelligent. If you could see how far he has come with some consistency and boundaries, you would be so proud of him. I know we are. When I do night time dog chores I give the pups some one on one time. Tonight Otis was super silly and playful and he stole my garbage bags. The bags are now filled with holes, but how can you be mad at that face? 🐶 (Please excuse the floor, sticky tiles are not designed for rescues, lesson learned. 😂) Otis will be neutered on November 20th, but if you would like to foster then adopt him after surgery, that is an option. 😉 If you are thinking about this handsome dude, message the page or call/text Kelly at (716)224-2244!

I should be working. Inspection is Wednesday and my paperwork is a mess. But Daisy and Otis are so much more fun.🥰 By the way, they are both available for adoption. We are waiting on their DNA test to better understand what they need in a home, but honestly, they are highly adoptable without knowing their breeds.

❤️Available for Foster to Adopt❤️ We have a problem child on our hands🤪 Mr. Otis was adopted, but he is now back at Small Town Shelter. Our boy seemed to think he needed to run the show. In his new home he figured out that if he gave a little snarl and snap, he didn’t have to do what they said. Well, he is now back at Small Town, and he has already learned we don’t play that game here. He really is a sweet guy, great with kids, loves car rides, treats are his life, and he loves giving kisses. He is not a bad dog, just stubborn, and if he thinks you are scared of him, he runs with it! He has not bit anyone, I truly believe he is testing his boundaries like a 2 year old human child. He had no problems getting his shots at the vet. I myself have picked him up, shoved him in his kennel, crammed meds down his throat, microchipped him, pulled his tail, and messed with his ears. Not once did he show any signs of aggression, but I think he knows better with me, I’m not having it. I guess what I’m saying is he is going to need a home with a human who has experience with big stubborn dudes like him. I do believe prior to coming to us, he may have been an only dog child. I feel he spent a lot of time with his family, but I’m afraid they let him run the show. We need to find him that again, minus the running the show part 😉 His DNA tests, that were so kindly donated, came in today. We are going to get that sent in, and hopefully get a better understanding of his puppytude. Everything inside of me says he is not just a pit bull. I’m really feeling cane corso/pit mix possibly. Oops, we did it again! Six new nuggies joined us yesterday. They aren’t ready quite yet, but stay tuned for their “available for foster to adopt” post in the next week or two. 😻😻😻

It’s been a day. I could complain, but instead I am reminding myself why I do what I do. Animals like Buster! Watching this little man thrive, despite all of his obstacles, is an inspiration. He has joint issues, he can not see or hear, he gets lost in corners, and he has to wear a diaper. But all of that aside, he keeps on going. He loves scratches, he loves treats (you just have to break them up first😉), and he is figuring out who his favorite humans are by their smell. And did I mention that changing Busters diaper has become a family chore? We are all learning, because he is pretty bossy.😂 Rescue has been hard, and I will be honest, I’m struggling lately, but this little man is keeping me going. I gave him his meds late tonight, so our 11 o’clock bedtime is going to be 12pm, but I am not upset, I am thankful. I will just watch him do his nightly rounds of pacing, nibbling, and drinking water until he finally crashes, while I do some self-reflecting and remind myself that if this little man can do it, so can I. 😉

Our Buster boy is doing great! He is eating like it’s his job. He loves hanging out in the outside kennel. But I am a little worried. I remember working with elderly humans and some of them had a form of dementia that amplified from around 5:30 PM-7/7:30 PM. Buster is showing similar symptoms. He is okay, and doing really well, but seems super confused between those hours. He wanders and whines. I’m not a vet, but he most definitely has something similar to the human version of this dementia going on. Finally, at almost 9:00 PM he is acting like he is ready to settle in for the night. But we are not giving up on this boy, he has a will, and we are encouraging it! Buster is teaching me so much, and his loyalty to me, already, melts my heart. We can not be sure about his future, but we are just taking it one day at a time.

Ugh! This boy ❤️ He is feeling so much better, and he shows his appreciation through kisses. I truly feel every animal sent to me is to teach me something. This boy has taught me resilience, strength, and a will to keep on going. Buster, just know, it’s only the best for you from here on out. Small Town sends your human mama nothing but the best, and our promise to her is that you are safe and spoiled for the rest of your days. Thank you all for the good vibes! And especially thank you to Gloria for her electro therapy treatments, and all of the extra care you have given this sweet boy. He knows he is loved ❤️
