🐾 Meet Sarah, our amazing Animal Service Officer at Sherwood!
From cleaning and caring for our furry friends to playing and assisting with public dog rescues, Sarah does it all. “No two days are the same!” she says.
Born and raised in the Gravel Ridge/Sherwood/Jacksonville area, Sarah’s passion for animals began when she started volunteering at just 16 years old. With experience at a vet’s office and another shelter, she finds great joy in helping dogs recover and reuniting them with loving families.
✨ Her favorite part? Socializing feral cats! Self-proclaimed "The Cat Whisperer," Sarah loves showing them the love they deserve.
💔 One thing she wishes others knew about animal control: it’s an emotional job. Every choice is hard, and there’s a lot of heart behind every decision made for our animals.
When she’s not at the shelter, you can find Sarah enjoying video games, diving into craft projects, or hand-stitching costumes for Ren Fairs.
She applies this creativity around the shelter too! Sarah has helped design boards to track animals care, as well as unique names for all the animal rooms!
A final highlight Sarah wants Sherwood Residents to know about is their dog collar memorial gazebo. The staff and other members of the community are encouraged to hang their pet's collars after crossing the rainbow bridge as a way to remember them and offer support to those who are also dealing with the loss of their furry friends. 🌈
Thank you, Sarah, for all that you do! ❤️🐶🐱
