Hello to our NorCal Cocker Friends,

We are devastated and heartbroken to share the news that on New Year's Day, we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our sweet, loving, and precious Pepper. We adopted him in October of 2020 when he was just one year old. We learned just a couple of years ago that he had progressive and advanced kidney disease. We did everything we possibly could to get him the necessary medical care to slow the progression of his condition. He was loved every day of his life by "his girl", our daughter, Naomi, his big brother, Copper, (also a
NorCal Cocker adoptee), and my husband and I. Pepper came on many trips to Mendocino, Monterey, and in the forests of Plumas County. He loved to roll in the grass, snitch food, and cuddles more than anything. He was an innocent soul and we have been so lucky to have him in our lives. Our house is quieter and he leaves a gaping hole in our hearts. We're certainly regretful of these circumstances but also incredibly thankful that he was our family and we have had one last holiday season with him. Pepper is forever in our hearts.

His Story:

Goofy, affectionate, and full of quiet charm, Junior Mint has got it all! This silly boy is happiest soaking up love. His favorite past time is spending quality time with his people. Junior Mint gets along great with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. While this boy may be a senior, he sure acts like a big puppy! Junior Mint would do best in a home that can work on his leash skills and take him for long (preferably multi-mile) walks per day!

Junior Mint does have medical needs that will require ongoing attention. He came to us with very painful ears. Our medical team is working to address this and keep him comfortable but his next home will need to be ready for whatever comes next for his care. Junior Mint's joyful spirit is truly unbreakable. You would never know by his spunky personality that he is feeling less than his best.

Junior Mint joined us from
Santa Barbara Humane after he was sadly surrendered when his guardians could no longer care for his medical needs.

Three-year-old lovable Buddy (left) found his forever home with Jay, Donna and his new canine sister, Lucy.

The holidays for the family have been packed with fun. Their daughters and boyfriends arrived for Christmas and after a few minutes of Buddy's barking...

"Buddy decided he loves having a house full of people who all have a variety of socks to steal. I thought for sure we would have to start over this morning but nope, he was excited to see them. He already knew “sit” and has learned “down” and is working on “place”. I have a Saturday hiking group and he loves having another dog with us on our hikes (see picture). He is full of puppy energy and we love having him in our home."

Part 2!

Energetic with pawfuls of sweetness, twelve-year-old Lady's living her best life with Stu and Brenda.

A quick update:
"She is doing great. She wouldn't eat until we put a little people food in her dog food. Now she eats in seconds.

The only negative is she loses her mind when she sees another dog - I think she doesn t like to be ignored. 😜"

Lady's camping trips will be packed with exploring and sniffing for familiar scents then cuddling near her people. Her life will be an active one for certain.

Congratulations Stu and Brenda, and thank you for giving Lady a beautiful second chance.
