This is an exciting new step since it means that I have to learn to spin wool "in the grease". Meaning that the lanolin will not be washed out. Since alpaca doesn't have lanolin and I've only spun washed & carded wool before, it will be an adventure.

Come and cheer on my Team!
🦙
I am so excited to announce that on 7/27/24 from 1pm - 4pm our Sheep to Shawl team (named Sheep Thrills) will be giving a public fleece-to-shawl demonstration on our farm!
🦙
We're on the road to the Sheep to Shawl competition at the PA Farm Show on 1/8/25! There are many rules and requirements involved in the official PA Farm Show competition including that each Team give 2 public demonstrations in the year prior to the competition. Not only will we be working on meeting this requirement, but more importantly, it will be awesome practice for the Team as we complete a run-through of this incredibly challenging competition!
🦙
We would love it if you would come out to the farm on this summer day in July to cheer us on! Throw in a few heckles while you're at it...I need to practice weaving under pressure!! You'll be able to witness history in the making! Adrienne Doran will be emceeing this demonstration! She'll be explaining what the heck we are doing and give you some interesting behind-the-scenes tid-bits! So fun and educational!
🦙
In the official competition, we must start with an unshorn sheep and produce a 78" handwoven shawl in only 2.5 hours! In this farm demonstration, we'll be starting with a pile of freshly shorn alpaca fleece and complete a gorgeous handwoven alpaca shawl in 2.5 hours. Is that even humanly possible?? Come and find out!
🦙
We would love it if you'd come out to support the Team. And while you're here, be sure to visit with our herd of friendly alpacas and llamas! Tickets are FREE, but please RSVP here: https://www.luckyusfarm.net/upcoming-events

We’re painting the town red in preparation for sharing day next Saturday. Well, maybe not the whole town, but Paul’s been busy painting the doors in the barn this beautiful shade of red. We’re hoping for gorgeous weather on April 6 from 8 to 2 when all the sheep and alpacas get shorn,

Our Story

We believe each animal on our farm has a special purpose, and we depend on them to keep it running. From alpacas to fainting goats, they're each unique in their own way. Nothing compares to the taste of farm-fresh eggs, chicken, and pork -- that’s why we’re committed to raising and preparing sustainable meat you’ll be coming back for. Additionally, we’re bringing the Shoemakersville community together with weaving and craft events. Whether you’re joining us for a class or looking for an animal of your own, there’s always good times to be had on the farm.
