November 8th is National Cappuccino Day - although we prefer our CATpuccinos around here! On a recent trip to Japan, one of our vet assistants went to a cafe where they were served cat-themed snacks and drinks and got to decorate their own unique beckoning cats!

Sherman, who is 22 years young and a frequent CEVC boarder, was so excited to hear about National Vet Tech Week that he decided to join the nursing staff here! He won't be able to help draw blood or take x-rays (mostly due to a lack of thumbs), but he does keep us well-supplied in biscuits and meows. We're happy to make him an Honorary LVT for his hard work!

Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week!

At Cats Exclusive, we couldn't survive a day without our dedicated and caring licensed veterinary technicians. They draw blood, get urine, analyze samples under the microscope, monitor anesthesia, take radiographs, keep an eye on hospitalized patients, provide owner education -- the list goes on and on, and they do all this while supporting the veterinarians they work with! Did you know a rabid bat was found this past week near the Washington Park Arboretum? Even indoor cats can be exposed to bats, who often find their ways into attics, catios, or can even get in through a window! Be sure to ask for and follow your vet's recommendations for keeping your kitty up to date on their vaccinations, including Rabies.

Today is and this year's theme is "Act Now: You, Me Community,” marking the first time in its 19-year history that the theme does not include the word "rabies," showing how well-established this movement has become. Whether you are an individual, part of an organization, or a decision-maker, the time to act is today. Here are some key takeaways from our "Rabies in the U.S." infographic.
🔵 In 2023, rabid animals in the U.S. totaled 3,760 - an increase of 5.1% from 3,579 in 2022.
🦇 Bats were the most frequently reported rabid animal in the U.S. in 2023. Over 1/3 of animal rabies cases in the U.S. in 2023 were bats.
0️⃣ Human cases of rabies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in 2023.
