For those that missed her recent feature courtesy of KING 5 news, we would like to introduce you to Chessie - MEOW's longest resident in shelter at 295 days!

Previously adopted in early 2022 and returned on November, 27, 2024 when her original owner could no longer care for her due to life circumstances, Chessie has spent a good chunk of her4 years of life at MEOW. A quirky girl who requires a space all her own (she is not a fan of other cats), Chessie has struggled to find the right home to accept her unconditionally. Due to shelter stress, she is on a mild anti-anxiety medication (which can sometimes be scary for adopters) but she takes her meds like a pro and we feel that once she settles into a home of her very own, it's possible that she may be able to weaned off with guidance from a vet. A volunteer and staff favorite, Chessie enjoys laps, pets, and playtime with great enthusiasm, so we think she would be best with an experienced cat owner that understand the dynamics of consent with a more independent kitty.

In hopes of boosting her signal and finding her purrrfect home, we will be giving you a weekly dose of one of our favorite felines at MEOW!

Chessie LOVES to supervise everything the human's around her are doing, peeking out from her suite at MEOW to make sure we're all doing are very best to find her new furrever home. Maybe it will be yours?

Today isn't just Labor Day - it's Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! There's nothing quite like the love from a ginger kitty, whether a bright orange tabby or a creamy buff guy like Persimmon here.

We will be closed this upcoming Monday, September 1st for Labor Day - aka a cat's favorite holiday! We will reopen Tuesday at 8:00 AM for our normal business hours. We hope you all enjoy the long weekend!

Today is National Dog Day, and we have quite the scandal on our hands. Dr. Elliot was recently caught on kiss cam with her dog, Phinney! We're not sure Dot appreciated it.

We pride ourselves on having cat-friendly exam rooms that do not have a lot of areas for cats to climb into and hide - which then prevents the stress of us having to pull them out of these hiding places! Every now and then, however, we have a clever cat like Patchy that finds the one spot in rooms that makes an excellent hidey hole. Luckily, Patchy was just having fun exploring and didn't mind coming back out for her exam!

Does your kitty have a prescription that you fill at either Bartell's or RiteAid?

Unfortunately, RiteAid and Bartell's are going out of business. Many locations are closing, have already closed, or are being converted to CVS pharmacies. If you currently have a prescription at one of these pharmacies, we recommend reaching out to that pharmacy ASAP to ensure your prescription can be transferred to the pharmacy of your choice. Don't wait until your cat is almost out of medication!

Happy Tongues Out Tuesday from Mugwort, who was here for a dental procedure last month! We make sure all of our dental patients have appropriate levels of pain medication on board before and after the procedure, which helps them feel good and groovy - just like Mugwort is here.
