This one spayed and neutered showed up a week ago. Don't know if someone is dropping these off or not but I have to chase owls off with high powered flashlights on a nightly basis. These small cats are not going to last long around my place. Ditch seperates my backyard from neighbors and everything from owls to coyotes and who knows what else visits the water source around here.

This lil' kitten showed up here at Fort Catamo two weeks ago. He ran into my garage and I was able to nab him or her. Would have been owl meat if I would not have caught it. Definitely don't need this. Six months of health problems and frequent doctor visits for yours truly here has Fort Catamo in the critical stages.

Some people have a tree fall once in a great wonder. However, Fort Catamo has two fall in two weeks. One during a storm on June 16th and the other on a perfectly clear and sunny day on July 1st.

Seems like the storm two nights ago not only brought damage to the structure of Fort Catamo but brought a little kitten which I suppose got separated from its momma. Had not I captured it I am sure the owls around here would have made a tasty treat out of this lil' critter. Even though I can't afford any more cats or kittens there is always the exception. However, one heart of gold need other hearts of gold to keep this place from going extinct. Spent over $30,000 out of my pocket last year and one thousand dollars in donations though appreciated isn't going to save this place for much longer.

Thought Matthew Had Escaped From Fort Catamo For 10 Days But Now I Am Not Sure. First Picture today. Second picture a couple of weeks ago in neighbor's back yard shortly before Animal Control was called to pick him up.

The story continues on Matthew. About three weeks ago Animal Control was called to a neighbor's house to pick up one of my dogs, Matthew, who some how turned up in the neighbor's back yard. Animal Control then came by my house and I wasn't home. The next day I went to Animal Control and picked up Matthew. He had a broken front right leg and half a foot was missing on his left back leg. Next day took him to my veterinarian that said it will probably take $2,000 to fix front leg and no telling how much to fix back leg and foot. Was leaning toward putting him down. He walks pretty good on two legs right now and I am given him inflammatory drugs. I seemed to be stressed out more than he is. However, last Thursday a chain of events occurred that wasn't good.

Matthew is inside my house in a large kennel. Thursday around noon I left my house to go shopping. Got back 3 hours later and my two outside dogs in my backyard were running loose and also Matthew was outside. "Impossible" I thought until the neighbor who had called Animal Control on Matthew who was in his yard initially informed me he had walked in my house, through the hall to where Matthew was in the kennel. The neighbor then let Matthew out and took him down to his house. The neighbor came back and let my other two dogs out of the 40 x 40 kennel in my backyard and led them two down to his house. He said, "So that they could play."

Without any permission this guy took a chance doing this. This afternoon I went to Animal Control and told them of the incident. Still not totally sure what caused Matthew's injuries. He is on the inflammatory drugs and is not supposed to be running and playing. Even I am shocked that a large dog like him can walk so good on two legs.

This guy is not thinking clearly at all. And I don't know now whether Matthew had escaped 3 weeks ago or if he had been let loose then. And I don't know how Matthew had gotten in the neighbor's to begin with if he had two messed up legs. Haven't made a police report but definitely keeping an eye out. And next time I probably will not be so tolerant.

Right now I am seeing how Matthew progresses. He is gaining back the 25 lbs. of weight he had lost. Looking almost normal again. For me not to turn my back on him was a tough decision. But I have never taken the easy way out. And not to call the police on my neighbor was not an easy option either. Not by my compassion but by the compassion I have been given from above. For now I will go with that.

This little girl rescued with two of her kittens on Pete Harris Avenue. One kitten looked identical to its mom. His name was Ringo and he has been adopted out. The mom shown here in the picture still is a little feisty so she is still a work in progress as far as adoption goes.

About 6 weeks ago this lil' girl was thrown out of a speeding car on Line Avenue. Shaken but not hurt physically, a lady captured her and brought her to Fort Catamo Cat Rescue. She tried to eat me up and escaped after scratching through some Plexiglas beside one of my room air conditioners. Neighbor called me a week later and said they had a cat in their backyard. Sure enough it was this little lady. Set a trap and had her in five minutes. Now she has settled down and is very gentle.

Matthew had escaped about 8 days ago. Thought I would never see him again. However, Animal Control got him from a neighbor's house. Animal Control came by my house but I wasn't home. Yesterday I went and picked up Matthew. He has a broken front leg. Half a foot is missing on one of the back legs. He is able to walk on two legs right now. Taking him to my veterinarian today to see what it will take to fix him.

Hannah will survive and will be released today. Saturday morning at the Willis Knighton North Hospital Chapel this was confirmed to me while I was in prayer. I doubted and all I can say is, "Shame on me!" Just got good news on Legacy. X-rays taken at second veterinarian indicates he will not need surgery. A man who was a Godsend payed for the x-rays and shots. God gets the glory.

Two in one week. First puppy Hanna left on the side of the road in a box with several deceased siblings. Now, she is fighting for her life with Parvo. Second puppy came wandering up and rubbing against my calves as I prayed for a stranger in Queensborough neighborhood. Second puppy has a broken rear leg that will require amputation or surgery. Could not turn away and leave either of these two dogs. Both puppies being treated at Dr. Daryl Seats Animal Hospiral On Hearne Avenue.

Fourteen Years Ago A Disease Called "Hystoplasmosis" Was The Culprit For The Birth Of Fort Catamo Cat Rescue. Today There Is A New Challenge As Another Disease Like A Venomous Snake Has Raised Its Viscious Head. But All I Can Say Is, "Death Or High Water It Takes 12 Hours Of Work A Day To Run This Place And So The Show Must Go On."

Latest Editions At Fort Catamo: Caught Feral Momma Cat After She Had Given Birth To Two Mixed Siamese And One Black Kitten [Not Pictured].

Had to make the move to catch her because the owls were getting impatient. Fortunate for the kittens that I made the move at the right time. Will have momma cat fixed when the babies get a bit older. About a month old now. Hoping to be able to find them good homes. Supplies are skyrocketing and my prayer is that the Lord continues to supply the needs here at Fort Catamo.

Vows not to take any more cats in gets sidetracked by compassion---an endless circle that seems never to break here at Fort Catamo.
