This flooding situation is a pretty good one, we've seen it before and we'll see it again during the rainy seasons. It won't hurt the dog park. Per KTAL news: Red River-The Red River is also on the rise, and a crest is expected at 29 feet Tuesday night in Shreveport. Flood stage is 30 feet.

We hate to rock the boat, but due to heavy rains here and upstream, the river is flooded and so is that dog park. Luckily we have the Southern Hills dog park to go to in the meantime. 2 miles west of the Bert Kouns exit off of I-49. 1002 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport LA 71118

We will have an extra hour of daylight to play in our dog parks, don't forget to set your clocks an hour ahead tonight. We have been asking for an extra arm on the lights surrounding the driveway into the riverfront dog park to help spotlight our play area. Maybe when the next time change happens we will have them. Got connections?

The Stoner Dog Park on the riverfront will be hard to get to on this Saturday and next Saturday due to Mardi Gras parades. And if you go to any parades please keep your dogs away from the action. The loud noise and things being thrown is very scary for dogs. It's illegal to have your dogs close to the parades too: PARADE INFO
Roads along Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway will close at 11 p.m. Friday (Feb. 21) and will reopen Saturday at 7 a.m. for people to set up for the Krewe of Centaur parade
Roads along the parade route will close completely at 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 22)
No ATVs, golf carts or motorized vehicles of any kind allowed on parade route
No drones allowed
No glass bottles allowed
If you park somewhere within the parade route, you’re locked in until the parade ends around 7 p.m. No vehicles will be allowed to leave during the parade.

When we have high water at the dog park critters sometimes slither in. Steve's Snaketuary is trying to get someone out there to catch and release some NON venomous water snakes sunning themselves on the pipe that comes in from the parkway end of the dog park. Most of the snakes spotted in our area are NON venomous, but can look scary. They were created that way on purpose so you won't mess with them. Works for me!!!!! Don't kill them.

UPDATE the water is receding quickly!!! HIGH WATER WARNING. We have 3 ponds now, but I think we'll survive the flood. It's receding a little. We don't want the water going over the sidewalks. The river is high, probably because we are downstream from recent rainy areas to our north. The water seeps in from the river sand under the dog park. It flows in from our drains too. It happens. Even if we had a GroundDog Day, we wouldn't have predicted this. Crazy weather everywhere lately!!!
