My name is Pola and so far I've had three different journeys in life. The first one began about five years ago in Florida when a lady said she would take care of me. I'm not sure what I did because I was a puppy but she didn't like me anymore, so she packed her things and moved away without me. Although I was only six months old, had no food or a place to call home, I knew I h

ad to be strong. I roamed the streets and ran away from every stranger that came my way because I didn't trust them and because I'm a very fast runner. Then, a hot summer afternoon, another lady and her dog approached me. I trust dogs, so I let them convince me to come with them but then the lady said they couldn't keep me but they would take me "home". On the way back to the address on my tag, I recognized a man who tried to catch me a few days earlier. He was my Dad and he would be the one to take me Home. That's when my second journey began! I met Mom and she fell head over heels for me, I also met my brother who became my best friend. After nursing me back to health, we had amazing times together every single day. My favorite things to do included running around the backyard with my brother, fetching my bouncy ball, riding in the car with Mom, eating bananas with Dad, and sunbathing under the Florida sun. We then moved away because Mom got a job offer in Texas, where the fun continued because I had a backyard for running and sunbathing, my parents packed my toys, and they also sell bananas there, so I was all set. The best thing of all is that this time the move included me! To celebrate my parents' anniversary, we all went on a family road trip back to Florida. Road trips are my favorite and I was going to see my family there, so I was ready to go! As we were driving through Louisiana, we were suddenly struck by a distracted driver. After the car stopped spinning, I realized I couldn't feel or move my legs anymore. Mom pulled me out of the car and gave me to a wonderful lady who promised to take care of me and my brother while Mom and Dad went to the hospital, and she did. So many other kind people got together and they all tried to help me out so that I could keep running and living my life but it was not to be because a new journey was about to begin. My third and final journey began when I felt my legs again running across the Rainbow Bridge and it was great! I watch over my family from here, I also watch over other dogs who have had a tough life and need to feel the love that I felt when my family found me. There's nothing like a second chance at life and that's what I wish for all dogs who don't know what Home is... yet.

We are working on some transports for some of our babies. They will all have to have a new 4dx heartworm test and health certificate to travel. We will also need to pay for transport fees.
😍THESE DOGS ARE ALL AS OF TODAY STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.
If you could help us get our babies on the road to a new beginning, we would surely appreciate it. Then we have some that aren’t eligible for transport that we will still continue to care for

We are completely out of vaccines and Bordetella. We order by the tray of 25 and it runs us about $250. for these. We are also very low on food. Luckily all of our dogs are on one food. Purina One Chicken & Rice.
If you could help us, we have several dogs needed vacs and they all seem to want food. 🤣
I know we are asking alot right not, we've got alot going on and planning for a few events. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE POLA BABIES

First of all, YPB is shutting at it's current location. Some of you know, there are some POLA dogs there. I would love to be able to get them on transport, adopted or in foster homes. I am not a networker so I do not have northern rescue connections.

Our adoptions are at 0. We are so full and northern rescues are full of med/big dogs too. We have some great dogs but we are at a complete standstill.
We still have 2 dogs that we are partnering with who need fast kill heartworm treatment or a local adopter. Mr. Murdock Murphy and Haddie. Haddie is now healthy enough to have the amputation on the rest of her leg.
This is a HUGE request I know. Everyone needs help right now and we just hate to keep asking. We do have the Squash Blossom Raffle still going so with any donation of $40 or more, your name will be entered into that raffle.
It is so frustrating. We try not to ask for money for every single thing, like food and shots and spays and neuters but we are just so low on funds that we are stuck. We still have monthly vet bills, we still do meds and hw prevention, food, shelter, whatever the dogs in our care need.

UPDATE: So the rip in his lip is in a spot that would 99.9% pop the stitches so Oliver will have a split lip and a scrap on his nose. That's ok.

We are in the process of helping 3 dogs who we are committed to helping.
MR. MURDOCK - German Shepherd shot on the streets of Shreveport. Despite my constant urging NO BODY took the time to go look at the cameras and reveal who shot him. Well the large part of the bullet is out but he is still HW pos. So we're gonna have to do fast kill to get him to a rescue.
HADDIE - Small little mix picked up by caddo with part of her leg missing. She has been spayed and now has gained enough weight to have the amputation for the other part off her leg and go thru fast kill for heartworms
OAKLEY - Owner Surrender, I finally got paperwork, because she is scared. WOW So 3 homes at least, shelter dump and now she is here. We are still working with this sweet girl and looking for her an amazing adopter.

This beautiful rare coin which is mounted in gold was donated to POLA from an AMAZING supporter.
We will try to auction this off so we really need you to share this post. All the information about this coin will be in the pics and you are more than welcome to ask questions. It is really amazing because this coin was made in 1782 and was on the El Cazador ship. In 1784, the ship was lost at sea. Many years later the coins were discovered at sea. It is definitely very interesting to read. There are no more of these coins available unless you find someone selling one from their private collection.

💚💙💚💙HELP FOR DRACO 💙💚💙💚
Draco has been in foster for a few months when all of a sudden one of his blue eyes turned redish brown. He was taken to the vet today and he definitely has an issue. He has blood in his eye and is blind in that eye. To start Dr. Naar is starting with steroid drops to see how he responds then it may have to been seen by an ophthalmologist if it doesn't improve. It could be a number of conditions causing it.
The bill today was $275. and will have more with follow up and possibly more appointments. Will keep yall posted on all that. If anyone could possibly help with the expenses for today, I would surely appreciate it.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with King, one of our lifelong fosters. He has been with us since the summer of 2018. King was found in horrible condition. He looked like a sack of bones which was heartbreaking. He had all kinds of issues; heartworm positive, hookworms, anemia, and his blood work was all over the place. Thanks to Dr. Calahan at South Shreveport Animal Hospital for always taking such good care of King! After all kinds of testing, we found out he was diabetic. Diabetes is manageable with insulin and special diet food, but it is expensive and runs about $150 a month. He has to have his glucose levels checked every 6 months, plus his proheart shot. The cost of his monthly care scared adopters away, even though King is the friendliest dog ever with lots of personality. We know pet food alone is now so pricey and he is on expensive prescription food. We have kept him with us to make sure he gets the love, diabetic care, and nutrition he needs. He is the bestest boy and deserves the bestest care!
At this time, King is need of his insulin refill, a bag of his prescription food, and of course the glucose testing. Oh and don't forget his proheart shot. We will need about $400 to cover everything. Any amount you can donate will help! We appreciate your support in allowing us to continue to help dogs like King.

UPDATES ON THE INJURED BABIES: (please see both post) MR. MURDOCK This is the German Shepherd who someone reported shot to Caddo. The vet examined him and they are going to try to go in and remove the bullet hopefully, this will cause less trauma to his leg. He is hw positive and will also need to be treated before he can go up north. He is extremely dog and people friendly. Now this is what he needs. He needs a foster where he can recover. He is in pain so he is at the vet on pain meds and will have surgery tomorrow (Monday) He will also be neutered. Also, for the time being, he is available to be adopted locally. WILLOW IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Absolutely no negative comments Willow was adopted in September to an amazing family. He played with his brothers and sisters outside and in until he didn't. See Willow is definitely not to be around chickens, they handled that. However, Willow does not need to be in a home with small dogs. The family worked for months, even went to obedience classes, and Willow never seriously injured the small dog, but she could. They felt rather than keep her kenneled, it would be better for Willow to go to another amazing home. WILLOW is amazing. Kids would be great for her. She loves to play and run and gets along with most dogs. She is almost a year old now, utd, microchipped, hw prevention, rabies and spayed. Below is the picture of her at Robinsons when many fell in love and her pic as she is today. Willow loves to have her hair brushed and is good for nail trims and baths. She is an extremely good traveler too. She weighs around 45 lbs SHE IS AN AMAZING DOG. Very cool day. June 9,2021, we went to get a roaming very neglected dog. Actually a post about the same dog had been posted same time in 2020. I looked for him then and couldn’t find him. Well, fast forward 2 years SAM ISNT HE BEAUTIFUL. I haven’t seen him in almost 2 years 💙💙💙. He’s living his best life now. #polababy BE THE CHANGE

The time has come. MOXIE needs her new home and new people. She is such an amazing dog. MOXIE is special needs, ill attach her story, however, don't tell her that. She love to run and play outside. Her favorite is sunbathing. I literally have to make her come in because her skin will burn. MOXIE is 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old, hw neg, proheart, microchipped, spayed, utd on shots and rabies. She is deaf but responds very well to hand signals and catches on quickly. She is around 60 lbs. Her care is not difficult. Its just doing exercises on her back legs which LSU Vet taught me how to do. She does not need to be with any dogs bigger than her, at least if they are active, because they knock her down. She loves ALL DOGS AND ALL PEOPLE. This is bittersweet for me. I truly love this dog and so wish she was mine. She deserves a home with a family and definitely another dog.
