This poor baby in the picture is matted, there is no pain free way to fix this, but the least painful is to shave them and start over. Doodles need to be brushed daily.
I often post "doodle hate"
But I actually don't hate Doodles. I don't hate any breed or mix.
I hate the IGNORANCE that is often associated with Doodles.
Overpriced mutts. If a breeder did health and temperament testing, didn't breed genetically flawed dogs. Had healthier dogs....I would be FINE with them charging so much. But a vast majority of Doodle breeders focus on LOOKS. Mixing coat types and colors and sizes to see what they can make. With no care for genetic heart defects, hip problems, skin issues, temperament etc.
And the ignorance of owners. You know I have groomed 1000s of dogs and the majority of people who bring me ENTIRE WEBSITES, 14 pages or more, printed of HOW TO GROOM A DOODLE. I don't get this nonsense with any other breed or mix. And a majority of these website print outs say "never shave a doodle" and say you can always brush out mats. And here is their pool loving, brush hating, cast matted doodle and they demand you not to "poodle their doodle"
I don't hate Doodles. I hate the culture that has grown out of breeding this mix breed dog.
I love grooming most Doodles. Most are very sweet, clownish, gentle, kind dogs. I would even adopt a doodle one day when I can add more dogs to my family. They are just fun to make jokes about because much of it is true.
