Fun fact!
The horses and goats love pumpkins! The horses get small amounts as a treat but the goats can be at lots and it’s a great natural dewormer for them too, if you have any pumpkins you can’t figure out what to do with we will take them! Just message me 🙂
Toby was a big fan of our home grown zucchini! Queenie on the other hand not so much 😂
I know many care deeply for Toby so I wanted to give a bit of an update on him for everyone.
This video was taken this morning. He is being closely monitored by me and the wonderful veterinarians at Fremont County Animal Hospital. He does not have a viral disease so our other animals are safe but he does have an infection in his lungs that he is being treated for. Hopefully this can be treated at home but we have volunteers ready if we need to get him into the clinic for more severe treatments.
Since starting the medications he is starting to become more himself again and perk up which is great news!
A lot of kiddos have been asking me about riding bareback and if it’s possible, the short answer is yes it is! Riding bareback involves a lot of balance and strength just like riding with a saddle and is a wonderful and fun activity! Everything we do with a saddle we can learn to do without as well ☺️
Thank goodness we finally have a cooler day, the horses are in much better spirits this morning with the cool air! I meant to post one of my hot day enrichment activities yesterday and forgot! I made up some popsicles for the horses, with some carrots, apples, and grain mixed in a big ice block! They had a bit of fun with it and it was a nice cool treat! This was my first time trying this and I think it went over pretty well 🙂
Toby
The vet has been out, he believes that Toby is having a severe allergic reaction to the heat. He has been given a steroid shot and medication that he needs to take for the next little while to help him out along with lots of cool oatmeal baths to calm down the skin reaction. The good news is the vet is confident that Toby will be okay with this treatment plan and should get back to feeling like himself in no time!
I had a great riding lesson over in Lincoln today. It feels great to be doing some training for myself again, it’s important to always keep learning! Many more lesson in the future that I can’t wait for!
Fritzi
We have a new mama on the farm! Fritzi had her kittens! 4 healthy babies. She’s doing a wonderful job taking care of them💕
Today was vet day! The horses all did great for the vet and got their vaccines, coggins, and health checks! Yearly vet visits are vital to keeping healthy and happy horses, along with these they are all due for a teeth float which will be an appointment set up soon!
