Shelby County Animal Shelter - Ohio This is the "official" page for the Shelby County Animal Shelter in Sidney, Ohio. We enforce the Ohio Revised Code concerning dogs.

The Shelby County Animal Shelter is a County office designed to serve the residents of Shelby County. We answer calls for stray dogs, complaints of dogs running at large,as well as animal killsbydogs and coyotes in a timely manner. We pickup stray dogs, answer humane complaint and reports of loose dogs. Don't assume because the Police Dept. or Sheriff's Office is contacted that we will respond. Ca

ll us the following day on complaints and dog bites to make sure we are aware of the call and if we are responding. We are open to people looking for a pet, people looking for a missing pet, and to people who just want to look at the animals.We accept dogs and cats from owners as well as strays. A fee may be involved. Call the office during hours of operation to make sure. We offer dogs, puppies, cats and kittens for adoption. We are here for owners of lost dogs to claim their animals or report a lost animal. We have a bulletin board for people to offer animals to good homes and we have free information to the public on a variety of issues. We welcome any questions you may have about dogs, cats or the Animal Shelter.

Let's finish the year up with one of our sweetest adoption stories. Tiramisu was the shelter's longest resident of 186 when his new best friend walked in the door at the shelter and said, "Is he still here? I'm ready to take him home."
You see, the 2 of them met back in October but the timing wasn't right. There were some things that needed to be done first before committing to this new fur-ever relationship.
Tiramisu was there and he too was ready to go home. He was the bestest boy that deserved to get just the right home. So happy for you buddy!
We always tell people the most responsible pet owner will be able to wait if need be to be able to give their pet the best chance for a fur-ever loving home!

Look at this cuteness! These puppies are 7 weeks old and ready for their fur-ever home Saturday the 4th. The puppies were born here at the shelter and have been with their mama this whole time. She has done a wonderful time raising them. The shelter is accepting applications now for these sweeties.
To meet the puppies an applicant must have an approved application.

So the Christmas Day plan was to let each dog out of their kennel so they could come pick a Christmas toy. Easy, right?
Dog's plan, what's Christmas? I do what I want. Just watch me.
And that we did.
Zoomies were had, toys were grabbed. Belly were rubs, treats were snubbed. Peanut butter was a hit while the comfy pillows did fit.
