The Shelby County Animal Shelter-Ohio believes Humane Education is key to building the next generation of responsible pet owners. So when a group wants to come visit the shelter it's a definite Yes!

We learn about PEP! 5 simple steps to being a responsible pet owner, then tour the shelter and last but not least pet animals.

Kiddieland makes a visit every summer and we couldn't be happier to see their familiar faces and continue building a relationship focused on loving and caring for animals.

🚨Adoption/Happy Tail🚨
Our sweet boy Jasper was the longest resident and finding himself growing up in the shelter for 156 days. As much as the animals are loved here at the shelter direction for a coming of age puppy can be a bit tricky. We knew that a gentle, loving boy was just waiting to find his fur-ever family.
And we were right! Jasper's new four legged sister had come from our shelter too!
Russet and Jasper are loving life together with great human parents to give them the direction they need.
Thanks so much for adopting twice from the Shelby County Animal Shelter-Ohio!

This sweet girl came in to the shelter 7.17.24. She looking for her family to claim her.

This adorable pup is Lolly. She's around 4 months old, probably a Golden Ret mix. She was found on Wright-Puthoff Rd. She is as sweet a pup as you can meet, and will be available for adoption on July 20 if not claimed.

Applications WILL NOT be accepted until the pet is available for adoption. Applications are considered in the order they are received.

Birch, the blonde pup, quickly learned that Celtic would appreciate some personal space when playing. Both dogs did an excellent job setting boundaries and respecting one another while enjoying their time in the courtyard. Celtic would love to play fetch all day long! Issac, the cat loves love! And that includes children. Issac was in the shelter during kitten season with adoptable kittens and in walks his hero to save the day! This lil guy has found his new best friend!

Our shelter encourages potential adopters to bring their current dog to do a meet and greet. This way you can see how the dogs respond to each other and to your guidance.
Pictured is a successful meet and greet in the shelter environment. Our sweet Aqua showed off her ability to work for food and love for people. She was adopted after this performance.
Please understand most dogs are strays and the staff is unaware of any behaviors that might occur in your home environment.
