The Handler’s role is very important. The Department needs to conduct a Handler Selection Process
Handlers are typically:
- Mental health professionals
- First responders (police, fire, EMS)
- Chaplains or crisis counselors
Handlers need crisis intervention training and must know how to manage both the K9 and the human emotional needs in the situation.
The Handler Chosen will undergo one of our Handler Courses and be paired with a K9.
Contact us today to learn about our Handler Course dates and how to be paired with a CIR K9 to assist your department.
