Since opening Peaceful Paws, there have been many ups and downs as with any new business. I am beyond grateful for those who nominated us in five different categories. Today, we received news that we placed "top 3" in four of the five categories. Thank you all for the nominations and the votes. Without all of you, this would not be possible. The final results will be released in August. Again, thank you all for the support you have shown Peaceful Paws!

Wanted to share a little news I just found. I'm glad that these dogs were rescued. If you're interested in one of these dogs, reach out to the Douglas shelter. Animal cruelty is a very serious thing. It's our job to protect man's best friend.

Felony Animal Cruelty Charges Filed Against Hereford Resident

On Monday, June 10, 2024, at approximately 1:48 pm, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office was advised of a trailer that was parked in the roadway at Hargis Ranch Road near Dakota Road in Hereford. The caller advised that there was no one at or near the trailer which was impeding traffic.

Upon Deputies' arrival, they identified a possible owner of the vehicle and made several attempts to make contact without immediate success. While on scene, the Deputies discovered multiple dogs inside the bumper pull trailer without any air circulation or water available.

A male subject came to the scene and confirmed the owner of the trailer as 27-year-old Anna Fuller who was also the owner of nine out of the ten dogs located inside of the trailer. The male subject advised that one of the dogs belonged to him and he was allowed to take temporary custody of that one, as the other two adults and seven 3-week-old puppies were impounded per court order.

The conditions inside of the travel trailer were excessive with heat and clutter not allowing for the animals to survive for much longer. The dogs were taken to the Douglas shelter for impound until the conclusion of this case.

After the initial completion of this investigation, Ms. Fuller was taken into custody on June 21, 2024, in the afternoon hours and charged with 40 felony counts of Animal Cruelty. Ms. Fuller remains in custody on a $10,000 bond.

This case remains under investigation pending judicial adjudication.

I need to stop and take a minute to just gush over this little guy! This is Louie. Louie started coming to me about 2 years ago. He has a history of biting and showing those pearly whites. The first time I groomed him he attempted about 20 times to bite my face or fingers off. He would not allow me to touch his legs even with a brush. I'm proud to say that in the 2 years he has been seeing me every 4 weeks he has finally come to trust me. Today, he gave me my first kiss and I will cherish it forever! He allowed me to hold his legs, brush his legs, and clean his paw pads, but he still has issues for his nails.

Building a relationship with pets is not something that can happen overnight. The first few grooms may not be perfect, and that's ok... but there will be a day that everything just clicks. I highly discourage groomer hopping unless there is truly a reason. Your groomer has likely built a bond with your pet and if you just disappear, it's a huge loss for us because they are an extended piece of our family.
