Volunteer opportunities for everyone!

The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center is always in need of volunteers. Sunday cleaning is a must, a dedicated group of volunteers to help clean, feed, and care for the animals every Sunday is essential! Dog walkers and Cat cuddlers are volunteers who help care for and socialize the animals for adoption. Photos are always needed to help promote the dogs and cats for adoption. You can even volunteer and help with customer service and serving the community looking to adopt. Enrichment is very important to the staff at the shelter and making enrichment treats and toys can also be a task you volunteer your time to do.

There are many options to choose from when volunteering with the shelter! If you are interested, please stop by during business hours or call (520) 458-4151.

The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center has a program known as 4P, Puppy Parvo Prevention Program, for the Sierra Vista area. 4P provides free parvo vaccinations to puppies 9 months or younger. The shelter offers the three-shot series until the puppy is fully vaccinated.

The shelter has been able to prevent against parvo for a few years and we have seen a drop in parvo in our area. To participate in the program, you can bring your puppy into the animal shelter during business hours. For further questions please call (520) 458-4151.

Frankie is a 2-year-old heeler mix who was originally found as a stray in the field behind Walmart in 2022. Frankie was a young puppy at the time and has grown up into a handsome boy in the shelter.

He has come a long way from when he was younger having some barrier issues with other dogs to becoming a distinguished gentleman. Frankie does still have issues with being reactive to other dogs, but our lovely staff and volunteers have been working with him.

Frankie is a fantastic boy who is wanting to help make Santa some Christmas cookies and milk the night before Christmas. He would be a great addition to the holiday traditions! To Meet Frankie, please stop by the animal shelter during business hours.

Tank is a Rottweiler who was transferred from Fort Huachuca when he was found as a stray on the installation. We have found Tank to be such a handsome boy who loves all the attention.

Tank does well with other dogs and has been integrated into play group where he can play with others twice a week. Tank wrote a note to Santa asking to be adopted for Christmas with a nice warm bed of his own.

To meet Tank please visit the shelter during business hours or call (520) 458-4151 for more information!

Luna has been at the shelter for over 380 days and would love to call a home hers for Christmas! She looks good in a bow!

Luna is a rockstar who enjoys running and would be the best hiking partner. Luna plays with other high energy dogs at the shelter weekly and does great. She has lived with kids and other dogs and does amazing. Luna can jump and escape if left unattended, so it is recommended to have a taller fence and not leave her outside by herself.

To meet Luna please stop by the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center during business hours or call (520) 458-4151

Meet Dipper, a 6-year-old male collie mix who just returned to the shelter after a week away being fostered for the Thanksgiving holiday. Dipper was a very good boy during his vacation! He got along great with the other dog in the house, enjoyed playing with the kids ages 10 and 13, walked well on a leash, listened to basic commands, minded his foster family, and showed great aptitude to learning new commands.

Although the family fell in love with Dipper, they weren't intending to adopt—only to give him a home for the holiday. They said he's a 12/10 good boy that any family would be lucky to have.

He really enjoyed going on hikes, trotting in the San Pedro River, and running with his foster sister in a big yard, but is also calm indoors and happy to just hang out getting pets. Dipper is highly food-motivated and is a bit of a counter surfer—so you'll want to keep food up and away while training against this behavior. Besides that, he was the pawfect little gentleman. Come meet Dipper today!
