We are very excited to welcome Dr. Kristen Giannantonio to the Fairland Family! From the time she was just four years old, watching veterinarians on Animal Planet, Dr. Giannantonio knew she was destined to care for animals. Her journey began at 15, working as a kennel attendant at Northeast Ohio SPCA, and has since led her to become a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for internal medicine, exotic animal care, and wildlife/zoo medicine.

Beyond her love for veterinary medicine, she’s also an advocate for pet owner education, a volunteer providing medical care at shelters, and even an amateur inventor-always looking for new ways to innovate in animal care!

We are so excited to have Dr. Akella join the Fairland Family! Please welcome her below ⬇️

At EverVet Partners, we believe great veterinary care starts with passionate professionals, and we’re excited to welcome Dr. Maylin Akella to the team at Fairland Animal Hospital! 🩺 🎉

Dr. Akella’s path to veterinary medicine is nothing short of remarkable. Originally from Taiwan, she first built a career as an oceanographer and data scientist at NOAA Silver Spring and NASA Goddard. But her love for animals led her to a new calling—veterinary medicine. She earned her degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a small animal emergency and specialty internship in Annapolis before becoming a trusted general practitioner in Rockville and Columbia.

With expertise in soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and clinical pathology, Dr. Akella is committed to delivering top-notch care to pets and their families. Beyond the clinic, she stays actively involved in the community by performing soft tissue surgeries at local shelters and supporting spay/neuter programs in underserved areas.

When she’s not caring for animals, you’ll find Dr. Akella enjoying family time, participating in her son’s school activities, or crocheting tiny toys for her son and their three cherished cats—Jack, Jill, and Mystic. 🐾

Unfortunately due to staffing issues, tomorrow we will not have any doctors on staff. This means that just like last Saturday, we will have two receptionists in to handle client communications and medication pickups. Please save your specimen drop offs until next week and both doctor to client communications and refill requests will be handled on Monday. If you had an appointment scheduled you should have already been contact to reschedule. We appreciate your flexibility with us!

Just a heads up to all of our clients that we will be open our normal hours tomorrow, however we will NOT have any doctors or veterinary technicians on staff. We will have receptionists in to handle our phone calls, emails and texts; as well as check clients out for medication pickups. We will not be able to provide any medical care to pets, fill any same day medication requests, provide same day callbacks from a doctor, or accept any specimen drop offs (f***l, urine, etc.) If your pet is in need of medical attention, please contact one of the local and trusted urgent and emergency facilities below. We will resume normal business and staff again on Monday morning.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but appreciate your patience and flexibility!

We will be closed today due to the unsafe road conditions and weather. We have contacted all our scheduled appointments today. We will return tomorrow at 7:30 am! We hope everyone has a safe snow day!

Quite the snow we got overnight! Please use extra safety and precaution measures when leaving your home today. Unfortunately, some of our staff won’t be able to make it to the hospital with this snow, so we will be calling to reschedule some appointments and surgeries for today. We will keep this page updated with any changes.

Good Morning! Our parking lot is still a bit icy from the snow we received yesterday, please be careful when walking on it! The sidewalks in front of the doors are cleared but on the sides are a bit icy as well. The amazing folks that come lay salt for us haven’t arrived yet, so until they do just use caution! ❄️

We had our holiday party at again this year, and while sadly some team members couldn’t make it, those that could had a blast! Great way to celebrate an amazing year as a team! ⛳️🏌️

We hope everyone is soaking in the holiday spirit this month! Please be advised we will be closing early on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve at 5pm. Please be sure to notify our staff of any medication or prescription diet refills you need for your pets, and plan to drop off any samples for testing during our business hours.🐾❄️
