Saturday night Aero was barking at 11pm, so I looked outside at my car b/c there have been car break-ins. Nothing, so I went to the basement where she was and looked where she was looking, hoping I'd see a fox or other wildlife.

Something moving across the street caught my eye. I saw the neighbors' lab standing at their front door, no lights on, and it was 24° outside.

I ran up stairs, shoved my feet into boots, threw on my coat, yelled an explanation at my husband while I flew out the door.

As I'm walking up my neighbors' stairs I start jollying up the dog with an excited, "Who's a good boy?" I've never met these neighbors nor their dog. "Gee, I hope that's a smile & not a grimace" I thought as I got to the top of the stairs and hoped he wasn't territorial.

That's when I wish I had brought a slip lead, food, a toy, something LOL. He was super goofy and excited. No collar on.

I knocked on the door and the guy opened the door, mumbled something about sleeping, and brought the dog inside.

When I turned around, I saw my husband standing outside watching me to make sure I was ok.

I'm glad Aero was yelling, "Get off your own lawn!" at the dog.

Moral of the story, check out what your dog is barking at, especially after dark.
