Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week: Day 3 ❤️
While study numbers vary, it's estimated that between 1-8% of dogs have a food allergy. These allergies affect every dog differently, but for pups like Shelby, it means a little extra care to keep her happy and healthy.

Shelby is a suspected Malamute/Husky mix with lots of love to give. She's great with basic commands, and is very food motivated, so teaching her new commands and enforcing old ones will be a breeze with treats! She's great on a leash, and is an active girl who would love to be an adventure buddy.
Shelby's food allergies will require a forever home that is able to commit to feeding her a special diet, and administering her lifetime medications to keep her healthy.

Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week: Day 2 ❤️
Unfortunately, of all dogs accepted into shelters, seniors only have a 25% adoption rate..
Today I want to highlight a senior pup in need of a forever home: Roscoe!

Roscoe is currently in a foster home through the care of Forever Home Dog Rescue. Here are some things his foster family had to say about him:
"Roscoe is a super chill and sweet companion. Being a spry senior doggo, he sleeps most of the day but enjoys short walks around the neighborhood, meeting neighbors and other dogs, and taking in all the scents. He gets along with all dogs and cats and would love to have another dog to keep him company on walks and to snuggle with during naps. He's house-trained, has good manners when it comes to food and treats, and is really just an all-around certified Good Boy."

There is suspicion that Roscoe could be deaf, but it doesn't stop him as he is great with hand and body signals!

Senior dogs deserve to live their last years in the comfort of a loving home. Will you give a senior dog the gift of comfort?

DOMINO with Kitsap Animal Rescue and Education (KARE)
We are starting this week's less adoptable pet awareness with this good boy! Kitsap's infamous Domino. ❤️

Dom was found as a stray in January of 2022 and released to the Kitsap Humane Society. He was placed with a foster and eventually his care was transfered over to the people at KARE. It has been over 2.5 years and this boy has still not found his forever home!

Domino is a German Shepherd/Staffy mix, with a love for frisbee, swimming, and cuddles on the couch. He's an affectionate boy that enjoys the company of his humans, but can also entertain himself. He's crate trained, but also does well free roaming, and he does great with men and women alike!

So what makes Domino less adoptable? Domino does great with fowl, but will need a home with no cats, children, or other dogs. These restrictions make is harder to find the perfect family for him. But I know they are out there somewhere!

I enjoy my time with all of my client's pets, but there's something special about spending time with my seniors. I never take visits with senior clients for granted, because you just never know when it will be your last. This girl here is such a joy to spend time with. ❤️

Say hello to Popeye the rooster! This is actually my own flock, and we have one rooster and eight hens. They love exploring the backyard and eating the yummy snacks we put out for them. But they really love taking advantage of the blackberry and raspberry gardens. 🥰 We love having them around!

More pets go missing between July 4th-6th than any other time of year. In fact, Animal Control officials around the nation report a 30-60% increase of missing pets during this time. What makes this worse, is only an average of 14% of those missing pets nation-wide find their way back to their families. 😞
The 4th of July is coming up fast, only 8 more days! Now is the time to prepare your home to make your pets as comfortable and safe as possible.

🐶🐱 If your pets have microchips, go to your microchip company's website to ensure your chip is registered and the information on it is up-to-date. Also double check your pet's collar tags are correct, and put them on your pet even if your pet doesn't typically wear their collar at home.

🐶🐱 Make sure your fence is secure, all boards and chain link are intact, and no holes have been dug under the panels.

🐶🐱 If your pet gets scared by loud noises, they may benefit from anti-anxiety medications offered by your vet. Call your vet to schedule an appointment and discuss your options.

🐶🐱 Create a space where your pets can relax. Cover a crate with a blanket and play relaxing doggy music on YouTube so they can nap until its over, or play white noise sounds while you introduce them to a new and exciting toy to distract them. Whatever works best for your pet!

🐶🐱 If your dog needs to go potty, it's best to take them outside on a leash, just in case. Even if you have a fence, this limits any potential panic-induced hiding within the yard, or fence jumps.

Make this 4th of July just as enjoyable for your pet as it is for you! ❤️
