Dear clients, I am researching the uptick in cases of dog flu. While it is recommended that dogs stay away from communal areas such as boarding and grooming, these services are still necessary. I cannot guarantee 100% that your dog will not contract the flu at my studio or from me as it can be passed through human contact between infected dogs. The best thing we can do together is make sure your dogs are vaccinated and healthy with no symptoms the day of their grooming. This means it is more important than ever to avoid crossover of appointments by bringing your dogs at their designated time and picking up in a timely fashion so I have time to clean before the next client arrives. This is the busiest month of the year for groomers so your respect in this regard benefits not only me but your dog and other dogs safety. Thank you!

Dear clients, I need to ask a favor of all those who arrive early for appointments to text and make sure I’m ready before bringing your dogs in. I don’t mind taking dogs early if I’m ready but I’ve had many times recently where I still have the previous dog and it creates some awkward transitions. Even if I don’t have the previous dog, the 10-15 minutes I mark out between appointments is for cleaning, record keeping and yes I like to eat and use the restroom too! I appreciate your cooperation and understanding. I know no one likes to wait and I do my best to be on time! Thank you 😊-Laurie

I am sad that several wonderful pups have crossed the rainbow bridge recently:( I now have some space available in my schedule. I am taking new dogs under 20lbs, in healthy condition for grooming and no aggression issues please. I work one on one by myself and can’t take dogs that need two people. This is Sunny and he’s a senior dog I’ve been grooming for many years between mobile and at the studio. He’s slowing down. He’s tired. His mom knows I get what I can done then he lets me know the session needs to end. This made me want to talk about aging dogs and grooming.

I have an aging clientele. More than half my regulars are senior dogs. Today I had Sunny, another dog that can’t stand up and hold his tail straight at the same time and I have one later that needs to be held by her owner for nails. I want everyone to understand there are two particularly difficult parts of a dog’s life that safety and humanity have to come first over perfect haircuts; puppy stage and senior stage. As dogs age they lose muscle tone and can have difficulty standing. They lose their eyesight and shadows of clippers and shears scare them. They can be grumpy from painful arthritis. They can be disoriented and snap out of fear. We groomers try our hardest to make them comfortable and ease their fears. The old ways of soothing don’t work anymore. They can’t hear our soft voice and petting hurts. In 35 years of grooming I’m often asked why the haircut isn’t as good as it used to be? This post will hopefully help my clients understand as their dogs age the grooms become “the best we can do today.” Thank you for understanding. ❤️

Leo is as big as a small couch and comfy to snuggle like one! I have to limit my large dogs but he earns his keep climbing on the table for me and turning around when I ask. Good boy Leo! ❤️🐾🤗

Dear Clients, I am posting to give notice that I will no longer be offering invoicing via Square. This was a way to be contactless during Covid but now we do drop off and pick up face to face. Please bring your card with you at pick up or if you send someone else you may send a card with them or I still accept checks. My terminal does scan cards saved in phones as well. Having payment at the end of every appointment is what works best for my business. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you. -Laurie
