All is well here after the brush fire near by. Horses and people are safe and the property is intact. Amazing response by Silverton Fire District and the surrounding mutual aid departments as well as a dozer crew. A huge shout out to Cow Girl 911 and the concerned people who got in touch with us to begin to offer aid and evacuation assistance. Sometimes we can be part of the solution and today we were some of the people who needed the help. We plan on paying that forward. Thank you all for your help and support and if we can pay back the favors and good karma, count us in :) Abiqua Country Estate

Update as of 9/14/2020, @0900:

All is well. We have been reduced to a level 2 along our property. We are actively watching the reports and patrolling our own property, Bob is staying at the place now and the power is back on.

Fire development is slow in our area due to environmental improvements and by the efforts of the fire fighters who put in extensive Dozer line in the area and who have been patrolling the fire line and are monitoring hot spots and looking for spot fires.

Humidity is up, we are due for some rain in the coming days, variable amounts with showers later in the week as well. This will reduce the likelihood of spot fires starting from embers floating on the wind. The fire is still burning hot in areas as fuel loads are heavy. However all of this is looking good so far as long as the wind will remain calm.

The horses are still in Canby and in various other places. Until we know for sure that things have stabilized, we will remain evacuated for the time being.

Overall good news on our end as we all wait and watch this develop. We aren't out of the woods yet but we are on the way. Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters working to hem in this blaze as well as with the community. Be safe everyone.

09/12/2020

As of 3/12/2020 at 0900, there was no sign of fire on the property and no visible fire from the road. We remain evacuated to Canby and to Mt. Angel and the family is safe.

For residents in the area, we drove up to Briar K**b and around the loop to McKillop and back down to Abiqua Road. No visible fire at that time.

Fire activity is projected to be slow today as relative humidity is much higher and overall the wind is much more calm.

The fires remain a real threat but the environment is making fire growth harder and now there are over 1000 fire fighters and support people assigned to the area.

The type 1 team is using thermal imaging drones in the area to map and gauge the fire.

Information for Riverside Fire

09/11/2020

Update, as of 3am 9/11/2020, no fire activity at our property no visible fire around it either.

Fire activity is still unpredictable, though today there is some hope with the winds trying to change to a west to east flow from the coast, which should push the flame front back on itself. We continue to watch the updates and will post relevant information as to our location here.

The horses are safe in Canby with some amazing friends of ours and we are working with them for back up plans should Canby end up on full evacuation but for now, we put our trust in the amazing firefighters and excellent first responders working all day and night on behalf of the community.

09/10/2020

All of our barn has been evacuated, most of which to a safe place in Canby set up by excellent friends of ours.

If you have need for relocation of your horses or livestock, our barn family might be able to help! Send us a message. We have more room for critters if folks are in need and we have people to contact to help arrange bringing them here.

As of 9/10/2020 AM, no fire activity on or at our property.

Some of the best sources of information about the fire activity can be found by looking up INCIWEB and the Clicking on either the beachie creek fire (may end up being renamed the Santiam Fire as the type 2 team takes over today) or the Riverside fire. Both of which are over 100k acres in size to our East / south east as well as to our north.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in our community and with the first responders and firefighters working day and night for the area.

Be safe everyone
