Guess what?! We are taking our first steps towards reopening intake, and once again being able to Save More Pitbulls!!💕🐾

Go to MikosRescueMission.org/foster-or-adopt and complete the “Foster Interest Form” to get started, and we’ll reach out ASAP! 🙌

The first step for us to reopen intake is to receive foster applications from members of the public just like you!🥰

We ideally need Longterm Fosters who are committed to at least 6 months of fostering. Once we receive your application and screen it, talk to you to explain how we do things, answer any questions you have, and finalize all paperwork, then you will become a Pre-Approved Foster!!🙏

Once we have Pre-Approved Fosters, then the next step is to find a dog in need at a high-kill shelter in California that will be a good fit for you and your home!🏠🐾

🚨🚨🚨The easy part is finding a dog in need (there’s waaaay too many out there who need saving)…The hard part is finding fosters!!🚨🚨🚨

So please, share far and wide!!! The more interest we have in fosters wanting to help, the quicker we can get things rolling and help more pitties who are in desperate need and in danger of being needlessly killed.😩😩

This is the menu I’d like to make for these sweet pups! If you’d like to donate towards this feast, we’d be so grateful!🙌

I already have green beans and potatoes, but we need everything else! Depending on funds, I will either be able to buy a full turkey OR will just get 2 packages of ground turkey ($12 each)🦃

Any amount will help our dogs have a wonderful holiday! Being able to provide these wonderful dogs with a special meal truly is my love language and it would mean so much to be able to do this for them. Thank you so much!🙏🫶🐾

Guess what?! We have new contact info! We can now receive packages and checks/mail directly from you!!

What does this mean? Now you can send items to us without having to order from an Amazon Wishlist, and you can donate the ‘old school’ way (by check) if you don’t like online donations.

AND we have a new public phone number! This is our “Rescue Line” that is currently used as a backup number and emergency contact for fosters.

BUT! One day in the near future, this number will also become a lifeline to pet parents in the Bakersfield community who need support with food and supplies for their dogs and cats!

And, you can also use this number just to text me to say hi or ask any questions, share ideas, or give it out to anyone you know who would love to support our mission to SAVE MORE PITBULLS! 🎉🥳

While we do have to remain on an intake freeze for now, the plan is to be able to assist our community (virtual and local) through a variety of ways! And at some point in early 2026, once we have the resources, educated fosters, and financial capacity, we’ll be able to hit the ground running with saving the dogs no one else will take a chance on!

JB desperately needs a long term foster home! He can be slowly integrated with 1-2 calm, large dogs (no small dogs or cats). We provide all supplies and daily guidance, access to virtual training, and support along the way!🥳🎉

JB has been in boarding for 6 months and the financial burden is too great to keep him here any longer. We owe over $5k (I’m waiting for the facility to give me an invoice with the exact amount, they said they will give a bit of a discount but have yet to give me the specifics on this).

The boarding facility has also said that they let him into the play yard with 2 other dogs (this is news to me because I specifically instructed them to keep him away from other animals, but it is what it is). I am waiting for them to provide video of him interacting with the other dogs so this can be reviewed to gain more insight.🥹

So, there is potential for JB to be SLOWLY and safely integrated into a multi-dog home, with a combination of utilizing baby gates, fencing, and a crate when left alone. It would also be important to not have any toys or treats out with multiple dogs, as JB does resource guard occasionally. And ALWAYS be supervised when around other dogs, never leave them unsupervised together.🙏

The boarding facility is requiring a $1,000 payment ASAP (like this weekend), and he may be unable to continue staying here if I do not come up with this payment by Sunday.😢

JB is such a good dog, he’s loving, loyal, and just wants to be close to his people. He has lived with young children in the past, the adults would just need to supervise closely and not leave any children unattended with him. He’s truly such a sweetheart!! ❤️

I realize that I have no current pics of myself that don’t include a dog or super messy bun 🤣🤣

This is my first birthday without my mom, and I’m just trying not to think about her tbh. Grief is such a rollercoaster, and I miss her more than words could ever explain. One year ago we went to Red Robin for my birthday, and never did I think that would be the last time I celebrated with her 😭 but I’m so grateful for the time we did have together.🙏
