🐸 Scientific Name: Bombina orientalis
✨ Common Name: Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad

📝 Description
The Bombina orientalis, or Oriental Fire-Bellied Toad, is a small but vibrant amphibian known for its striking green and black dorsal pattern and its bright orange-red belly 🔥. This coloration serves as a warning to predators, signaling its mild toxicity. When threatened, it may exhibit the “unken reflex,” flipping onto its back to display its vivid underside as a defense mechanism.

🏞️ Habitat
Native to the forests, wetlands, and slow-moving streams of China, Korea, and parts of Russia, Fire-Bellied Toads thrive in humid environments with plenty of water and vegetation 🌿💦. In captivity, a semi-aquatic setup with both land and water areas is ideal to mimic their natural habitat.

💧 Humidity and Temperature
To keep Bombina orientalis healthy, maintain stable environmental conditions:
🌡️ Temperature: 20-26°C (68-79°F)
💦 Humidity: 50-80%—mist the enclosure regularly but avoid excessive wetness
🏞️ Water: Provide a shallow, clean water area for swimming, changed regularly to prevent contamination

🌿 Diet
These toads are insectivores, primarily feeding on live prey such as crickets, mealworms, small roaches, and other invertebrates 🦗. Gut-loading and dusting prey with calcium and vitamins help maintain their health and prevent deficiencies.

🔆 Lighting
Although not strict UVB-dependent, Fire-Bellied Toads benefit from low-level UVB lighting for overall well-being ☀️. A natural day-night cycle with 10-12 hours of light helps regulate their activity.

🌳 Enclosure Setup
A semi-aquatic terrarium is ideal, featuring:
🛖 A land area with moss, cork bark, or live plants for hiding
💦 A shallow water section with smooth rocks for climbing out easily
🌱 A well-ventilated tank with proper humidity control

With their bold colors, playful behavior, and unique defensive displays, Bombina orientalis makes an engaging and low-maintenance amphibian for keepers of all experience levels! 🐸✨

🇬🇧 Did you know that reptiles see UV? 🦎✨

Unlike us, reptiles perceive ultraviolet rays, which allows them to see the world in a completely different spectrum! 🌈 UV plays an essential role in their behavior, diet and reproduction. This is why providing suitable UV lighting is crucial for their well-being in captivity.

Take care of your scales, give them the light they deserve! ☀️🐾

🐸 White’s Tree Frog – Dryopsophus (Litoria) caerulea🪴

📝 Description
The White’s Tree Frog (Dryopsophus caerulea), also known as the Dumpy Tree Frog, is one of the most popular pet amphibians due to its docile nature, charming appearance, and ease of care. This medium-sized frog (growing up to 10 cm / 4 inches) has a distinctive plump body, smooth skin, and a beautiful blue-green coloration that can shift depending on humidity and temperature. Its large, expressive eyes and adorable face make it a favorite among frog enthusiasts! 🐸💚

🏞️ Natural Habitat
Native to Australia, New Guinea, and surrounding islands, White’s Tree Frogs thrive in warm, humid environments, often found in forests, wetlands, and even urban areas. They are arboreal (tree-dwelling) and love to climb, spending much of their time perched on branches or smooth surfaces. 🌿🌍

💧 Environmental Needs
To keep your White’s Tree Frog happy and healthy, maintain these conditions:
🌡️ Temperature: 24-28°C (75-82°F), with a slight nighttime drop
💦 Humidity: 50-70%, with regular misting
🔆 Lighting: UVB is recommended for calcium metabolism and overall health
🏡 Enclosure: Vertical terrarium with branches, plants, and hiding spots

🦗 Diet & Feeding
White’s Tree Frogs are insectivores, meaning they thrive on a diet of live insects, such as:
🦗 Crickets
🐛 Dubia roaches
🍽️ Occasional treats: Waxworms, mealworms (in moderation)
⚠️ All prey should be gut-loaded and dusted with calcium & vitamin supplements to prevent deficiencies.

🤝 Behavior & Handling
Unlike many amphibians, White’s Tree Frogs are relatively tolerant of gentle handling, but it should be kept minimal due to their sensitive skin. They are known for their calm, curious nature and may even recognize their owners over time! However, always wash your hands before and after handling to protect their delicate skin from oils and chemicals. 🐸✨

With their easygoing personality, adorable looks, and relatively simple care requirements, White’s Tree Frogs make fantastic pets for both beginners and experienced keepers alike!
