A year ago today, Amy Hahn found Reggie as a stray, struggling to walk with his left front leg dangling. He was covered in bite marks and it was apparent he was used in a dog fighting ring.
She took him to a vet and found his left from shoulder was dislocated and he has no use of his leg. He wasn’t microchipped. She reached out to me for help and I directed her to take him to an emergency hospital
They recommended amputation. Amy took him home afterwards and has been caring for him for the passed year.
Recently, Reggie’s personality has started to change. He was beginning to lose use of his left back leg. He was having some sort of aggressive night time dementia where he would awaken and bark and growl at her
A few days ago, he bit his dog trainer and attacked one of Amy’s dogs. Amy made an extremely difficult decision today and had Reggie euthanized
I can’t begin to tell you how difficult this was for her. I was there as we said goodbye to him. Amy loved Reggie unconditionally. I can’t begin to tell her how grateful I am. Few would have taken in a tripod with aggression issues.
It was important that Reggie not die in a shelter. We spent over $10,000 on Reggie’s care. Something I’d do again in a heartbeat. Reggie left us knowing he was loved was worth everything.
Thank you Amy. You’re truly an angel. Please donate in Reggie’s honor 💔🐾
