...as a small hobby farm in the Upstate of South Carolina. Sharon has what you would call a green thumb! You walk onto her quaint, 5 acre plot of paradise and you are immediately impressed with the thought, “Someone loves to foster life here!” There are calls of peacocks, the bleating of newborn sheep and goats, rich alpaca grazing on the hilltop and the clucks of proud hens sitting on a clutch of eggs. It’s not just the animal life that Sharon nurtures, everywhere you look, you see mulched beds, budding trees, landscaped pastures and blooming flowers--filling the air with the freshness only new life can produce!
Enter Doodles. Sharon has always had a flair for the “exotic”! A basket-full of eggs from Sharon’s farm boasts a palette of colors any paint store would be jealous of. Sheep are not just any old variety of blacks and whites, but perfectly bred baby dolls giving specific attention to color-mixing of the ewe and ram so as to produce a 60/40% pattern of black on a white coat. Goats would be bred carefully as well, to produce colors she would name Oreo and Sherbet because of their rich, colorful mantle. Her first outdoor canine was a Mastiff--not just your ordinary Mastiff, but a Spanish Mastiff. His boxy frame was there to support his impressive head the size of a car steering wheel. Sharon could not be content to leave the pets outside, so she added her first indoor companion, Coco, a rich chocolate standard size Poodle. Coco was (and is) a dream! Obedient, classy, and 100% dedicated to being a companion to whomever shares a bed with him at night. Sharon was convinced this temperament must be shared with offspring, and she set-out in a search for a female Poodle who could help produce more little Coco’s! Izzie was her find.
Concurrent with the arrival of Izzie, Crossfield Doodles in the North (founded by Christy, Sharon’s daughter) asked to use Coco as a stud for Zoe, an F1 Goldendoodle. The match produced what you immediately recognize as a signature litter of Crossfield Doodles: Rich, dreamy coats on the most amazingly tempered dogs your heart can imagine. Sharon could not help but fall in love with these dogs, and so her love-affair has blossomed into Crossfield Doodles down South.
CFD down South is the crowning achievement of Sharon’s hard work and dedication to the exotic, fostered and nurtured by love and pruned by excellence. She has developed a breeding program informed by her decades of experience in breeding an assortment of exotic, exquisite breeds to produce the right look and the perfect temperament. Her breeding fleet of doodles is an array of colors, and a powerhouse of strong genetic lines that promote this hybrid breed.
