I absolutely love baby degus! Let me know if you're interested in these when they are old enough.
I have another baby, but he was exploring out of the nest and I couldn't find him. It's a huge cage.
Hey guys, I almost have my rattie adoption forms written out to use. I have named the rat vets I use but what vets do you know that see rats? I'd like all options listed if able. No limited on distance from the rattery as half adopters aren't local.
Video of friend's puppies for tax. (Last week's AKC Westminster Dog Show Anatolian Shepherd breed winner, was sired by same friend. We were so excited! And no, friend has a puppy wait list so these puppies aren't for sale.)
Being in a temporary cage while I clean up their messy cage was eshausting. Apparently. But a dust bath is the bomb for these guys. They don't stop exploring and they are very vocal when happy. I never see these guys resting or slowing down. They are always on the go and so much fun to watch. Love me some degus!
Twenty each. One hairless is reserved, one pink hairless not shown but available. I almost wanna keep the two agoutis Berkshires because they crave human attention. These are the girls we still have left. They aren't use to being outside the rattery so they were a bit uncomfortable. Let me know if you're interested! I'm trying to get babies out and homed before July.

I think the degus like the dig box lol I was doing chincilla sand, but decided to let them try reptile coconut soil. You can do this for rats too. This creates lots of enrichment and helps their hygiene. If it's deep enough they will make tunnels and use them too!

My critter nations aren't as cluttered as I like and I forgot hammocks last cleaning day. They have access to both top and bottom of the cages. But this is how I usually keep my breeders and potential breeders housed. It's best to give them all types of options to make them feel comfortable. I have saucers for the tops of the cage, log bridges in a flat u shape on the bottom, baskets and tubs from dollar tree hung up on plastic shower curtain rings, plus regular hide houses for mammals. My hides are of different sizes as well in case they like smaller or bigger for group cuddles.
I use big cement mixers from lowes to cover the big bottom portions. I cut some edges and a hole for them on the side for them to go in and out of. The smaller levels are just containers from any store. They tend to hide between the tubs as pictured in earlier post of adult breeders and can create more hidey spots for them to be comfortable in.
Here's some keeper females and one reserved female all in the same cage. Everyone had vanilla waffers in their mouths [and some scattered around the cage]. But yet they still run around like crazy acting like someone's out to get their cracker cookie. It was hilariously ridicious!
And yes I encourage way more hides than this, as many as you can stuff and cram in the cage. At least hide/hammock per rat I suggest, but these babies are being socialized and shouldn't need to hide. Adult cages are way more fun and cluttered. I also don't suggest this cage except to other ratteries, because it's tiny and only good for this rat's size and they will be introduced in the big girl cage next week. Always make sure they have two water sources and filled daily!
Alright so I'm almost done with my vacation in Florida! Shout out to my bestie, Colleen who's taking care of my animals for me. Here's some dramatic Florida weather that is amazing to watch from our beach house. I thought y'all could enjoy until I get home to make rattie videos. Just some info about me, I was born and raised in Panama City, Florida and quite a few years in Simpsonville, SC.
Guess what I just heard 5mins ago! Not one but two [3/4 silkie 1/4 Americana] babies hatching! I already had one born on the 22nd and shes been my lil baby. Now I'm gonna have three running around! First time using an incubator and only 3 bad eggs.
