As we begin the new year we want to thank everyone. It absolutely takes a village to do what we do. We cannot continue to do what we do without you.
You guys make a difference. From volunteering, donating (whether it be monetary, your time, or miles), transporters, staff, comments, shares, and/or coming to our outreaches. Everything counts on making a difference to our animals. You may think comments and shares don't really do anything. But you're wrong they do. That one comment tagging someone or that one share to your wall. That single action opens a multitude of doors. I've seen it happen and it's a beautiful moment when it does.
It takes a village and we are so thankful for ours. We have our struggles and we have those high moments too. But with the help from all of you it makes the times of struggle a little lighter.
Shelter life isn't easy by a long shot. There are days that are hard. There are also days that are an absolute miracle. It challenges everything, physically, mentally and emotionally. It's not for the faint of heart. There are really hard days where no matter how hard you fight, pouring your heart out, and it's wall after wall. It's that horrid, most bitter pill that you have to swallow. You can't save them all. It hasn't stopped us from trying but those days are the absolute worst. But it's what drives us to fight harder. Yes, you can't save them all but that doesn't stop us from trying.
You will have days where you think you can't do it anymore. It's just become too taxing. Then it happens. A poor soul comes through those doors. You look at them and you just know. It's time to fight for them. You pull yourself back up and get ready. Because sometimes it's not you saving them. It's them saving you. You fight for them because they can't fight for themselves. You have to tell their story. Being able to do that and seeing them change from being so scared they won't come out of the kennel to being able to pet them and seeing the change in their eyes when they know that they're safe. Those are the times that fill your soul and your heart. Just seeing them change. It's what it's about. It's those moments that make up for all the others.
So thank you for all that you do to help. We appreciate it and are excited to announce our final count for our year. We still have a few days left. We are excited to see what this year holds. Again from the bottom of our hearts we thank you!

OK my German Shepherd friends, we just got in these 4 Black/Tan Shepherds that just fell from the sky and found at a local park. They were horrendously filthy and their bath water ran black! They have been vaccinated, bordetella, de-wormed, and microchipped and they are patiently awaiting your arrival. Contact the shelter at 279-6968 for more information.

This is something I just came across and please take the time to watch this. I know when walking into a shelter or a rescue can honestly be extremely overwhelming. But when you walk in those doors open not only your hearts but your mind too. Take a second look at the ones who may seem a little shut down, who look a little different, or they're a little older. They are just as important and need loving homes as the rest of them. Take your time and look to see who really tugs on your heart strings
Hazel with her pupcup after a fantastic time at Lowe's!! She did amazing! Fingers crossed she finds her forever home!
This beautiful girl is Stacy! She's been at the shelter since September. She's so sweet and full of so much love. She is dog selective and a has a lot to say when she's in the kennel. She's spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and microchipped. She loves to give kisses and scratches! She's a sweet soul that needs to find her furever home. If she's that special puzzle piece that's missing from your life, please come down to the shelter and meet her! This is not our shelter but something I had come across on TikTok. When looking for a new best friend please take the time to look at the seniors and older pets. They deserve the love an affection just as much as the younger ones. Seniors are pretty amazing. But let's also redirect on something. I know I've said it before and getting into the holidays it's more important now than ever. Please for the love of everything fluffy. Do not surrender your seniors to make room for a younger pet. Pets are 10-30 year commitment. They're not something you get and when you get tired of it you can just give it away like a toy. That's not how that works. Yes, we completely understand that things happen, that out of your control. We will do what we can to help. . But, please make sure if you are going to be getting a pet that everyone is on board. If you get a puppy and it's a large breed puppy. That puppy is not going to stay small. That puppy is going to get bigger. Please do your research before getting one any kind of pet. Please don't be the person that gives up their dog because, they're getting a new puppy. That's not fair for them the shelter is no place for any pet. It's loud, filled with different and unfamiliar smells, different people constantly moving through, new dogs coming in and out all the barking, squawking, hissing, meows, chirps sometimes it's constant noise. Sometimes it's never quiet. Its a place where some just shut down and it takes a long time to get them out of that. Days of sitting with them, spoon feeding them to help them know that you're not there to cause them harm, you are there to help. Its every day with them to coax them out of their shell to get them to relax and learn to trust again. If you are making that life changing decision to add a best friend and family member to your life I do suggest you rescue. They deserve love too. It may be not be easiest, but with time and perseverance they will love you with everything they have. They will
