Someone has their fancy pants on today! We try not to mess with it too much because it comes so natural for him and he will use it as an evasion…especially in the piaffe work… but sometimes you have to have a little fun! #passageistooeasyforhim #sandievanvoorstdressage #svvdressage

Excellent virtual (hence the red box) lesson with Brad today! Laura Blankenship’s Davina rocking some half pass. Her lateral work is getting 😍

Good job Mariner! He really lives to teach changes! @Ty First attempt at 2’s! ( I’m not going to lie…. Counting wasn’t this easy for me and I’m a little jealous!)

Excellent Brad lesson today! Starting to figure out the changes! A bit late in front and a bit “expressive” but coming!

This is my favorite time of year, and I don’t mean fall/winter! Post horse show season! When you can train without a looming show coming up. You have the opportunity to experiment without having to worry about messing up something for your next test! This is when the real work happens! This is when you really get ahead!

In the words of the great Herbert Rehbein (and not so bad 😜 Brad Cutshall) “They have to grow up sometime” Nero looking fancy, and his big boy bridle offering some cadence in the half pass. Nero is a heavy horse by nature, often funny in the mouth and in the connection, and seem so much happier in the double. He is much more forward, honest and light. Thanks to Janine Doocy Salazar for organizing the clinic and Aaron for tagging along 😘. #countysaddlery #espritequestrian
Yesterdays test tough. He was scared of the end of the arena and was full of tension. He was short in the neck and heavy…and threw in a change in our right canter shallow loop 🫣🤣 todays test was better. We did some warm up at the scary end😉 He was slow off my left leg in the beginning of the right leg yield, but after a touch of the whip, went waaaaay too sideways. And in our right 10m circle he saw a man in a cowboy hat 🤠 🙄.
It was a hot but fantastic first day of showing! For our first test (1-2) Nero was a bit “squirrelly” in the warm up so I rode a bit conservatively and was happy with a 67%. Our 2nd test he knocked it out of the park and we had our PB with a 73% ! He was such a good boy (despite still being a little squirrelly warming up). He got an 8 on submission, which is amazing if you had witnessed any of my recent rides 😂😬After missing the last couple of show seasons, Robin did an amazing job knocking the cobwebs out and getting her first 2nd level scores for her bronze! Claire, as always, laid down some solid and consistent 2-3 tests. I believe there may have been a “9” today!
I have touched on changes once or twice and Nero never really quite understood the order his feet needed to go to make the change 🤪. Today was cross training day and I thought I’d give it a try over a pole. Success!
Another supper Brad Cutshall Clinic weekend! Being lazy by nature, Mediums are a bit of a struggle, but they are coming!!
