-Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.
Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Permethrin is an insecticide used in many over-the-counter dog flea products such as topical treatments and shampoos. Permethrin is extremely toxic in cats, causing muscle tremors, seizures and even death in some cases. This sweetheart was brought in yesterday after his owner accidentally applied a dog flea product to him. Luckily, his exposure was small and with supportive care he will be fine in a few days. If you ever accidentally expose your cat to permethrin, bath them immediately and get them to the vet. Better yet, use flea & tick products that don't contain permethrin such as Frontline Plus or Revolution.
We love seeing puppies as they grow, especially when they are learning new tricks! Bentley, a 10 week old Australian Shepherd, showed up at his new pet check with Dr. Krenik ready to show off!
