We’re thrilled to see so many new faces (and puppy faces) at the shop already this holiday season so I wanted to take a moment to (re)introduce myself.

I fell in love with the pet industry while working at a tiny pet boutique while attending college in Missoula, MT. I had no idea I’d end up owning my own pet boutique but upon adopting a very messy and floppy mutt after college, I realized there was a huge need for quality pet foods, supplies, and unique handmade pet goods in Sioux Falls. I opened the doors to Shop Dog thirteen years ago and though it’s never been easy, it’s always been fulfilling. I’ve met my best friends and husband through Shop Dog, become a mother, said goodbye to my first shop dog, and added a pup to our family. I’ve watched my customers’ families grow and change and I’ll truly never forgot my first customers that chatted with me on every visit. Side note, I don’t recommend working seven days a week alone for too long. 😉My continued mission is to provide the best pet products to our community and continue to give back to our pet community and families in need.

Ellyn grew up in Sioux Falls and attended the University of Montana, where she worked at local pet supply shop and fell in love with the industry. Upon returning to Sioux Falls, she worked in retail in the downtown area and began research and planning for Shop Dog. After traveling to other cities and visiting popular pet destinations, attending trade shows, and doing research on the industry’s best pet products, she opened the doors to Shop Dog Boutique in December 2012. She loves being a part of the pet industry and finds pet owners to be the nicest and best customers around.

Our team offers guidance on nutrition, play, and exercise to ensure your dog leads a happy and healthy life.
