It has been a full week since the unexpected passing of Benji’s dad, Jack. Some of you in the Mahonia-sphere may not have heard yet. We have been grieving, crying, laughing with fun memories, sharing stories and feeling so heavy. From the earliest days of Mahonia Gardens, Jack was right there, bagging salad greens, doling out turnip samples at the farmers market and, for the last four years, working weekends at The Stand so that we could have more time to enjoy summer with the kids. He was so dedicated to the Stand, keeping it stocked and swept, pretending to complain but actually enjoying having something to do and people to talk to. Always up for spontaneous babysitting, always willing to drive anywhere to pick up anything or deliver veggies to Bend. Jack was part of our daily life, and it will be a long road getting used to him being gone.

Folks, it’s been a truly wonderful season at The Stand, but today, 10/31, is our last day open this season. Come stock up!

Thank you all for your continued patronage. We will be open again on May 1, 2024.

To really stock up for winter, please check out the Fill Your Pantry event < > on November 11. Many of our Central Oregon farmer friends will be there offering bulk storage veggies and more. You can pre-order online or show up and shop

HUGE thanks to all the local farmers and producers who made this season so bountiful.

Thank you for the spirit, energy, and great classes.
Thank you to the other teachers who took the time to teach!
And thank you to for advertising and sign ups.

This is a photo from our own ! This is Nicole’s second season working on the farm and she has a genuine understanding of how to use local food in Central Oregon!

Food does not grow here year round. We get a few beautiful months of fresh produce. So, take one from Nicole and preserve!

Pickles, sauces, soups, frozen fruits for smoothies, pesto.
