UPDATE: He went home!!!

Hey Evanston. We need your help to get this sweet boy home. He was found on Saturday by the Lighhouse Beach. He is very sweet and definitely missing his owner. He appears to be recently groomed so we are hoping maybe a local groomer will remember him and know where he lives. We know his owner is out there!

🌞 Wooooo!!! It's a hot one this week in Chicago, IL, USA as summer ramps up. Some friendly reminders if you like to walk your dog!

🐾 If the air temp is hotter than 23°C/75°F then the concrete/asphalt may be too hot for the pads of your dog's feet!

🐾 Press your hand on the concrete/asphalt for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for your skin, it's too hot for your dog's paw pads!

🐾 Avoid walking during the hottest part of the day!

🐾 Bring water for your dog!

🐾 Seek shaded and grassy areas like a forest preserve versus a neighborhood

🐾 Dog boots may be an option! (with proper conditioning)

🐾 Take shorter walks, go slower, and be patient with your companion. Offer them frequent stops if they need it, especially for elderly pets. Your dog may be more easily frustrated and less responsive to cues/food rewards so BE PATIENT!

We're hoping that you get to rest and relax like this cute poochie as we head into a long weekend. Just a reminder that we are CLOSED Monday, September 4 for Labor Day and we will reopen again on Tuesday for the rest of the week as normal. Have a wonderful and safe weekend, everyone!!

The animal medical center is an AAHA accredited, state of the art, companion animal veterinary clinic located near downtown Skokie. We opened our doors in 1985. Some of our current technical staff have been caring for our patients for over 10 years. Our mission is to provide the most advanced medical and surgical care and to deliver it in a caring and compassionate manner.
