Today is World Mental Heath Day. Most of your veterinarians, technicians and receptionists commonly experience depression, compassion fatigue, burnout, anxiety, etc.

Some factors that contribute to these mental health issues in vet med include:
🐶Work-related stress
🐱Isolation
🐶Fear of judgement
🐱Online bullying/emotional blackmail
🐶Empathy
🐱Physical demands
🐶Financial stress
🐱Moral/ethical decisions/dilemmas
🐶Poor work-life balance

The vet med industry can be very challenging and demanding but the human-animal bond is so much more important to us. It’a important to recognize the impact that your professionals go through day-to-day. The more that mental health in vet med is talked about, the more the stigma can be broken.

Human-animal bond can also have a positive effect on mental health!! Pets and therapy animals, as we all know, help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, feeling loneliness, and social isolation. Pets remind us to take a step back from whatever you may be involved in and enjoy what’s in front of us.❤️

Just remember, if you experience any symptoms related to any mental health issue, you are not alone and you are loved and we are so proud of you!!
❤️❤️❤️

We love our K9 Cash 💙

K9 Cash had his yearly checkup today at Highland Animal Hospital. He even let Dr Mattson get a full exam and only growled a little while getting his vaccines.

Remember to take your pets to the veterinarian regularly.

Thank you to Dr Mattson and the staff at Highland Animal Hospital for taking care of K9 Cash. They keep him healthy so K9 Cash can keep us safe.

🚨important 🚨
It’s never a good idea to let your dogs eat from the trail due to many natural hazards. It’s also a good idea to always teach your dog a Leave It or Drop It command if they do pick up something undesirable.

🔸️ ATTENTION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL DOG OWNERS & HIKERS 🔸️

Over the weekend, it was reported that a hiker found dog treats stuffed with fishhooks near the George W. Outerbridge shelter on the Appalachian Trail.

The incident occurred near the North Trail Loop leading to the shelter, on State Game Lands #217, in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

Items like these could prove deadly to any animal that consumes them, including wild and domesticated animals.

If anyone has any information about the incident or locates more findings, please call 1-833-PGC-WILD or 1-833-PGC-HUNT immediately.
