Meet Malcom, our featured pet for ! We are pleased to announce that his adoption fee has been generously sponsored by UEMSI / HTV in Jackson. Malcom is a 2-year-old, 42-pound bundle of joy. He thrives in playgroups with other dogs. Due to his playful, puppy-like behavior, we recommend a family with dog-savvy kids. Training classes are advised, as Malcom can be a bit jumpy and he take treats like as shark, but food is the way to his heart.

This , we want to call attention to our "cats with careers" - outdoor working cats. WCHS has many that are in need of an enriching and safe environment in which to live. Outbuildings with resources (i.e. food, water, warmth) are the ideal spots!

As an alternative to surrendering your outdoor cats, consider our Outdoor Cat Clinic, which offers spay and neuter options.

Take a look at Spiced Latte (orange tabby, 7 mo.) and Sneakers (black, 7 mo.) Both have been with us since early September and are in the market for work!

Behind many displaced animals are families looking for them. Appearance isn't everything. Riley, for example, was missing for 6 weeks, dirty, and covered in fleas. If you happen to see a wandering pet, contact your local police department and report it. Amazing things can happen!

We have some very exciting news to share!
You may have seen our post last week about the small white dog who was picked up here in South Haven and brought to a shelter in Wisconsin. The dog's owner saw our post and contacted Washington County Humane Society, but was not sure when they would be able to make the unexpected trip to Wisconsin.

Yesterday 2 amazing volunteers, one from Washington County Humane Society and one from Al-Van Humane Society (both pictured below).
Each drove about 2 hours to meet outside of Chicago, where they handed off the dog.

Today, Riley is back home with his owners! We can not thank our new friends at Washington County Humane Society enough for everything they have done for little Riley. Yay for happy endings!

Another DNA mystery solved! Franklin was transferred to WCHS from MADACC at the end of May when he was 10 months old. He had severe hair loss and was treated for Demodex mange. He is currently thriving in a foster home and plays with other dogs daily while he awaits his forever home. We are unsure how he would do with cats, but he'd likely do well with dog-savvy kids.

WCHS originally thought he was a Pitbull mix, or maybe even Boxer because of his docked tail. It turns out he is more or less a purebred Bulldog. DNA results from show Franklin is 56.9% Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog and 43.1% American Bulldog!

If you're interested in meeting this handsome guy, please call ahead so we can get you in contact with his foster!

In August 2023, Grizzly and Socksie were brought to a shelter in South Carolina. During the recent hurricane Helene relief transport, WCHS took these two in. Now, we are seeking a loving home where they can hopefully stay together.

Grizzly is a bundle of energy and is always sporting a cheerful smile. Socksie, though initially shy, blossoms with her brother by her side. She is incredibly affectionate and loves snuggling. Both dogs are just over two years old and have shown excellent social skills, getting along well with other dogs during playgroups and walks.

Having spent 433 days in a shelter (which is more than half their lives) Grizzly and Socksie are eager to find a permanent home. Thanks to the adoption sponsorship from Gordie Boucher Ford Lincoln of West Bend, those who wish to adopt both Grizzly and Socksie will only pay for one! Share, visit, and consider adopting!
