I have a special hatred for retractable leashes. While I understand that plenty of people use them without problem, I have personally known two dogs that were hit by cars and killed while on one. They were at the end of the retractable leash and the owners had no control over them when they ran into the road. You can also see in this article below, some other concerns with using this type of leash. I know we all want to give our dogs the best, and that includes some freedom to explore, but maybe reconsider using a retractable leash and opt for other ways to give your dogs that freedom.

It’s cold out there. Please be kind to opossums. Many of them find a cozy place to combat the cold. (So many are missing parts of tails, ears, toes, due to previous frost bite) and your garage or porch may be the only place they have. They won’t hurt anything, I promise. And shooing them out may be certain death due to lack of shelter. They are Northern America’s ONLY marsupial. These precious souls eat fleas, ticks, and other pests.

Sweet Tony sits so pretty in his cage. He has everything it takes to be someone’s best friend! Sadly, like many “big black dogs” Tony gets overlooked while dogs with unique color patterns get a bit more attention. Be open minded when selecting your next companion. Sometimes dogs who lack unique physical features turn out to have the best little personalities.
