Hello Storm Harbor supporters!
Slippery Rock University Giving Day will occur tomorrow, March 26th. For this one-day campaign, SRU alumni, students, employees and friends of the University are encouraged to give money to support SRU student scholarships, clubs, on-campus organizations, academic departments, athletic teams and more. This year we are looking to raise over $800,000 campus wide.
Storm Harbor will have a direct link to be able to donate. Donations are tax deductible and will flow to the center's account via the Slippery Rock University Foundation.

Today we celebrated World Down Syndrome day with Slippery Rock Middle School and High School students from the Life Skills Program! The students learned how to put Polo Wraps on the horses to represent mismatched socks!

IHSA show weekend! The Western Equestrian club hosted their IHSA show today. Attending universities were WVU, Bethany College, and Cal-U. IHSA shows are designed for all levels of riders from very beginners to advanced. Riders will be assigned horses in random draws and compete on horses they may have never ridden before. Go Rock! 💚🤍
Today we hosted an educational day for the Physician Assistant students. They learned about the work that happens at Storm Harbor Equestrian Center and what we do. Next was getting familiar and comfortable around horses. They learned about horse behavior and how to groom and lead them and how to assist riders in our programs.
Got to love PA weather! Yesterday was beautiful and 60 degrees and the arena was perfect! Today for the English Equestrian Club, rainy and yucky riding indoors!
Sun is shining, arena is perfect and everyone is happy to be outside in February!

Research Study Volunteers Needed Storm Harbor Equestrian Center Slippery Rock, PA Monday Evenings We are recruiting volunteers for a research study at Storm Harbor Equestrian Center in Slippery Rock starting in late February. The purpose of the study is to better understand the effectiveness of adaptive horseback riding on fall prevention in adults with neurological impairments (e.g. Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke). If you have a neurological condition and are: • 60 years or older • Able to walk 20 feet with or without an assistive device • No more than 200 pounds • Able to mount a horse • Free of fear or anxiety about horses • At least 6 months since you participated in horseback riding Please reach out to [email protected] or 724-738-4306, if you would like more information.
