Did you know March is Pet Poison Prevention Month? At Countryside we often get phone calls about pets that get a little too curious about kitchen counters and end up eating something they shouldn't. And let's be honest, sometimes we overshare our meals with our pets too🙃. Here's a short list of a very long list of things that are toxic to our pets!
*Chocolate (Especially Dark), *Grapes/Raisins, *Onions, *Garlic, *Xylitol (In things like sugar free gum), *Nuts, *Raw Dough
*Tylenol, *Ibuprofen, *Cold Medicine, *Antifreeze, *Fertilizers, *Lilies, *Daffodils, *Tulips
Many pets will recover just fine if only a small amount of a toxic substance is ingested. Remember to keep peroxide (and our number!) on hand should you find your pet with something in their mouth that they shouldn't have. Happy Friday everyone!

It is with heavy hearts we learned of the passing of Dr. Rapp at Animal Hospital of Punxsutawney.

Dr. Rapp was one of the first colleagues to welcome us to the area, form a working relationship, and even sold us some equipment that we still use in our office to this day.

Our prayers go out to her family and staff during what is sure to be a very difficult time.

FOUND! Very sweet female German Shepherd. Found yesterday near the road in Oscer/Echo area. Not microchipped but someone is missing her. Please call our office to claim. She is being well taken care of in the mean time.

!Lost Dog!
A husky with one brown eye and one blue eye, has been roaming around in our parking lot all day today. We have been trying to catch it but haven’t been successful. If you know anyone that has lost a husky or is currently is missing one please let us know.

12/1/23 Update: We caught her!! Today, we were able to successfully capture the husky thanks to the Jefferson County dog warden, Matthew Patrick! A VERY special thank you to State Police Officer Shrekengost of the Punxsutawney region is also in order. Thank you to everyone that helped us get here. We could not be happier or more relieved.
A reminder that we are not an appropriate place to leave an animal. We were lucky this situation resolved the way it did with a highway right next to us and many patients coming and leaving the building. Even if a dog is friendly, that does not mean it will be easily captured, and it is not our job to do so (though we tried). We do not know if this is what happened with her, but we thought it worth stating. Please, if you need resources in rehoming a dog, call instead.
