Paws 'n Purrs

Paws 'n Purrs Pet and House Sitting Service Paws 'n Purrs was born out of my love of animals and the joy that pets bring to me and to everyone I know.

I decided what a great way to spend my 'semi-retirement' years, doing what I love. After 30 years of selling Advertising, it is definitely time for a change! I hate it when I leave my little KC and MIMI home alone and most folks I know feel the same. I can water your plants, check your mail, etc. When you are away you can be assured that your fur kids are comfortable in familiar surrounds and are

being cared for they way you want them to be. Available for overnight stays upon request as well as daily care. I can open your vacation home before your arrival and make sure a/c is on, frig is stocked etc. Weekends and Holidays, no problem. I am a member of Pet Sitters International and utilize their resources in working with pets and their owners.

Poor Sassy! This girl is just so nervous. We were able to get her outside for a photo shoot, though she was incredibly shy. Sassy has lots of potential if someone had the time and patience to gain her trust. Sassy was an owner surrender to the facility and we don't believe she had a lot of human attention. She is only a year old. Sassy going to be spayed this week, and is already vaccinated. She also seems to get along well with other dogs. We do always recommend a meet and greet with other dogs in the home. For more information please call the Bedford County Animal Shelter at 540-586-7690. You can also email our rescue at [email protected]. To be approved to adopt Sassy please fill out an application in the link provided https://friendsofbedfordcountyanimalshelter.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4144

Help! We have loaned out our traps and did not record a name or take a deposit for some of them. We have no traps now. If you have borrowed a trap from us or have working traps you no longer use, we will take them. Drop them off at the center. If we are not open just leave them at the front door.

First impressions are everything. And it has been said that we form an opinion of someone within the first seven seconds of meeting them. That means that we hardly stand a chance to dazzle someone with our amazing personalities before they’ve already made up their mind about us. Which is why pit b...

This week we reached out to Susan Moon of Flat Creek Pet Care. She’s a been so helpful coming out evaluating dogs and giving training tips when we ask for her assistance. Here’s what she has to say about Bart🐕‍🦺

“I would describe Bart as quite the handsome hidden gem! When asked to evaluate him at the shelter, I was
pleasantly surprised to see glimpses of a terrific dog pretty quickly. Bart definitely struggles being in a noisy shelter environment as many dogs do and expresses his frustration through barking and jumping wildly in his kennel. With calm but firm guidance, he showed how comforting it was for him to have someone lead him on leash and became calm enough to just hang out and soak up the sun and fresh air together. Bart is a friendly dog, perhaps a little too exuberant in how he shows his friendliness! But he quickly learned that jumping or lunging toward a person to say hi wasn’t polite. With some consistency, training and time to decompress in a stable home environment, Bart could really flourish and be a great companion. He is a young, athletic, very playful and confident dog with a beautiful, shiny black coat. Bart would benefit from an active person or family who can provide him with mental and physical stimulation to exert his energy appropriately.”

If you are interested in Bart 🐕‍🦺 please call the Bedford County Animal Shelter at 540-586-7690. You can also email our our rescue at [email protected].

My cats are really enjoying their new water fountain. Cats love to drink from flowing water. And they need a lot of water. A lot of cats go into kidney failure because of their lack of moisture. So it is important that they drink a lot of water and eat wet food from time to time
