How would you like it if someone pinched your nostrils and forced you to breathe through your mouth all day? That’s how a dog with stenotic nares feels. A common disorder in bully type breeds such as English Bulldogs and French Bulldogs which are becoming more and more popular!

Stenotic nares are present from birth in affected dogs, though they might not cause problems until later in life. Over time the increased airway resistance from pinched nostrils can lead to increased effort to breathe in.

Thankfully, our staff is fully equipped to bring relief to a dog suffering with stenotic nares. Pictured below is a Frenchie who recently came to us in this situation. You can see in the left picture how closed up his nostrils look compared to the picture on the right which was taken after surgery. Frenchies and bully breeds are wonderful but they don't have to snort and snore their whole lives struggling to breath!

Duke is your typical fun loving lab puppy. But he ate something he shouldn't have this week and came in with a very upset tummy. He was so pitiful! Thankfully our doctors got him fixed up with some fluids, nausea meds and probiotics. At his recheck appointment a few days later he was back to his wild puppy self!

Happy spay day to these adorable kitty sisters! Today is Thank you everyone who brings their fur baby to us for their spay and neuter. If you’ve noticed the following changes in your dog’s behavior, it could be from Osteoarthritis pain—a chronic condition that can impact how your dog moves and feels. We are excited to bring a new injectable medication to our clients that helps relieve painful OA. Called Librela, pets who have used it so far have gained a fresh spring in their steps. If you are interested in learning more about Lebrela, let us know! We're excited to help your pet feel young again.

Can you believe the transformation?! When this little lady came in for a dental evaluation Dr. May thought for sure she would be losing all her teeth. Once she was sedated and he began removing the plaque and build up, he realized the teeth and gums actually looked pretty good! The color you see is actually the color of the plaque and not blood. He had never seen anything quite like it.

This is the mouth of a 14 year old dog and can you imagen how much better she feels?!

If you own dogs, you know just how true this is!

Be very careful when your dog has a toy they are destroying, never leave them alone with it. Fluffy cotton stuffing, string, the actual squeaky part itself, all can be very harmful to your dog if ingested. Always have monitored playtime with these kinds of toys, or give them things they cannot easily destroy and ingest such as Kong toys or NylaBones!

Our hospital staff had to say goodbye to our sweet office kitty, Lexi. We know many clients over the years always looked for her in the lobby as they came with their own pets for visits. Lexi was so tolerant of the hectic clinic life and had no fear of the hundreds of dogs she encountered. She was so friendly to all the kids who got to love on her.

She was on many medications to help with her health issues but in the last few months she became an advocate for the Solensia injection. She started getting these kitty arthritis injections once a month and it really help her mobility and energy level. Lexi will be greatly missed.
