Would like to make a point for adopting and older Aussie verses a new puppy.
Average cost to purchase a Aussie puppy 500 to 1000
Average cost for the first year of Vet care 100 to 500
Average cost for flea ,tick heart worm preventative for a year 100 to 200
Average cost for spay or neuter 150 to 500
Average cost for training classes 150 to 200
I wont ad cost of food and treats because that can very
but what quality and type of food and treats purchased
when you ad all that up the cost of that new puppy can be really expensive. and many times these cost is what contributes to many puppies when they are past the cute stage being dumped, and or place in shelters or looking to be rehomed .
Many times the puppies have been thru a lot of trauma due to be sent to a shelter or they are just ignored and not socialized or trained at all. Many time they are lacking positive outlets for their energy and the use of their intelligence to do a job. Thats were rescues come in we take those lost puppies and dogs and evaluate them , get them caught up on their vet care. socialize and train them and do our best to promote them trying to find that great home that will turn their lives around. But there are so many of them that need out help and the right home is hard to find .
So when you are thinking about getting a new Aussie puppy reconsider and think about the older Rescue Aussie and the Rescue Organization that has put so much time and effort into them . Many times the vet care has been already taken care of they are caught up on vaccination, preventative care and spayed and neutered. They are evaluated for their temperaments and problems are identified and solutions found. Some have started training programs and socialization to help find them a home. They just need a second chance with another human who this time wont let them down . When you do reach out to a rescue remember they have been footing the bill and doing the work for you so when they ask you to fill out and application and provider references, and to pay a rehoming fee it is all in the dogs best interest to help them help the next rescue in need. Do you homework make sure this breed is right for you , check with your spouse of family make sure they want the dog as well. Be willing to travel or pay for transport as many time these dogs come from all over and the right person to provide a good match may live far away . I have several great dogs available for Rehoming after you read this if your still interested please contact me pm or go to my group page Aussie Angels for Rehoming and Adoption or text me at 2705081596 or reach out to another great rescue their are many Aussies out there needing a home
