Dogs are not people pleasers.

Dogs do things for 2 main reasons.

1. To pursue good feelings and advantages. Finding food, tracking, and hunting are innately for the dogs own desire. If you present yourself as a gateway, your dog will go through that gateway to earn the reward.

2. To avoid things that create bad feelings, and disadvantages. Avoiding things that make them uncomfortable. Nail trims, loud noises, walking at night, etc

We see this across the board with pet and sport dogs. The dogs are influenced before we decide they are “people pleasers”. You showed them options of things they want by doing things you want.

This is important to distinguish because if you believe your dog is doing things to please you, then you most likely won’t made the adjustments you need to. The dog is not eager to please, the dog is eager to earn the engagement

When raising a puppy you want to build up confidence, toughness, and resilience. The world is unpleasant. Your dog will be exposed to many things they love and hate. You the owner have a HUGE impact on your dog’s feelings about leashes, collars, muzzles, treats, grooming, and how they percieve touch.

In order for us to have a complete line of communication WE NEED to be able to communicate with our dogs when they are fearful, over excited, or stressed in general. A lot of information talks about the best “method”. As a new dog owner you’ve seen so much conflicting information and you want to make the right choices.

The method that works best for your dog is the method that utilizes your dogs natural instincts. Instead of trying to suppress behavior, you should promote and reward behaviors you want!!

Lovie is such a cool dog. Very receptive. When you are looking for a dog the first thing to pay attention to is responsiveness, willingness to explore, food drive, and toy drive. Lovie has all of these traits. She would be a great companion for an active person/persons

Adoptable Lovie, the sweetest 1-year-old pup who’s still waiting for her forever family. 💕 She’s crate trained, potty trained, and absolutely full of love. Lovie has had some tough luck finding her perfect match, and we don’t understand why!

“Will training change my dog’s personality? I don’t want them to be a robot”

This is a common concern. In short Yes, good dog training will change some parts of your dogs personality for the better. You will never train your dog out of loving the things dogs love like running, jumping, playing or sniffing.

Our standards as Dog trainers are the following.

1. When we call our dogs they return the first time. Regardless if their are people, dogs, deer, or goose p**p.

2. When we place our dogs they stay on the place regardless of distractions present.

3. Sit/Down mean to stay in a position indefinitely until released.

4. When your dog sees something that makes them uneasy, uncomfortable or overly excited, we want our dog to look to us for guidance.

You will never accidentally train your dog so well that they forget how to live freely. It’s about being able to control our dogs when we need to, and giving them freedom when we want to.

It’s not basic to train an animal to come, sit, and get on place. Nothing is basic about teaching an animal to go against their instincts.

Give yourself more credit. Some people can’t stop themselves from eating bad food. It’s not easy taming a young rambunctios puppy or a strong dog.
