“The body learns before the brain can explain”. Buoy like most puppies does not have the best mind to muscle connection. This is easily one of the most common things new pet owners don’t do. Teaching the dog HOW to get into positions before giving commands is like a cheat code to obedience. We are using a position box to teach buoy and to keep his front feet anchored and move with his back legs!

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

1. This builds engagement.
2. This helps create mind to muscle connection for our dogs which in turn helps build strength and prevent injury.
3. This helps teach our dogs to respond to leash properly.

Buoy’s Family is starting their first time puppy journey off right. Learning how to engage, and installing a clear communication system within the family! Absolutely love seeing owners do their home work, your dog loves it too!

We like giving our dogs clear social cues. You don’t get to say hi to everyone all the time. When training your dog it’s important that you set the stage for social interactions.

Key things to remember. You can say “no”. You can also ask “are you willing to help me train?” And proceed to tell the people rules of engagement!

SOCIALIZING!

Socializing is more about neutral/positive experience and less about uncontrolled play. When we socialize our dogs we spend more time training around each other then we do letting them wrestle and chase. It’s all about time and place!

Socialibility is on a spectrum. Which means some dogs despite play groups will be more social or less social. So emphasize training around pups, more often then free play. This will ensure our dogs are successful AND we can clearly identify the body language of the dog infront of us.

Happy dogs, anxious dogs, aloof dogs, and assertive dogs can all have similar signals with key distinctions you need to learn to be successful. Not all tails up mean things are going great and not all low tails means the dogs traumatized.
