Jelly Roll didn’t make the finals in Newsday’s Cutest Canine contest, but he’s still stunning to us!!!
Jelly Roll is doing amazing and proving to be the perfect gentleman every day. We are still struggling to get his ear infections under control, but he is being a champ about it every day. This boy brings the sunshine everywhere he goes.

These beautiful sisters are just 2 years old and full of love. They have lived with a child, another cat and a large dog. They will be perfect for any family. Hocus & Pocus have always been together, and get along well. They lost their home when their little human developed allergies to them. Let’s make sure their next home is their !

Meet Pepe’ le Pew! 🦨
Pepe’ is a sweet and affectionate 2 year old Boxer mix. This guy was found as a (recently skunked) stray and was never claimed. We are slowly learning more about this boy, and it’s all positive. He seems to love everyone and everything. He is a little nervous at first, but warms up easily! Please share so this boy finds his best home!

It’s pool season and it’s baby season.
A sad combination at times! If you own a pool, please do yourselves and wildlife a favor and invest in a critter escape ramp. Frogs, squirrels, turtles, baby bunnies, skunks and duckling can all fall victim to believing they can get back out once they hop in. Go to your favorite ordering site and type in “frog log” and pick the one you like best.

A very lucky resident found this beauty in his yard. This Great Horned Owlet is a fledgling. We can tell because he has plenty of adult feathers coming in on his wings. If he wasn’t, he would be downy like the feathers on his body. If you ever are unsure, give us a call and animal control will happily assess the situation.

Jitterbug and Maizee are now wrestling buddies too! We have some highly social dogs that would love a furry sibling to play with in their perfect furever home. #socializeddogshavemorefun

Fall in Love With a Shelter Dog or Cat

Dogs and cats that are taken into the care of shelters each year find themselves homeless through no fault of their own; “moving” and “landlord issues” are the top reasons people give up their pets.

When we rescue a surrendered or stray animal, they are immediately given medical evaluations. (If we are fortunate enough to have a medical history.we will pass it onto the new owner.) Our shelter staff will work with each potential pet owner to identify the perfect dog or cat that’s just right for your household. We will even bring your potential new family member to your home to see how he or she does with other pets and in your environment.

Our Shelter is full of loving, spayed/neutered, vaccinated—and often trained—pets who are just waiting to meet you! When you adopt a cat or dog from a shelter or a rescue group, you can rest assured that you have not supported the cruel and exploitative puppy mill industry.

NOTE: If you are thinking of meeting your next family member… Please give yourself at least one hour to visit the shelter, view the animals, and acquaint yourself with pets that are available for adoption. If you do not find what you are looking for, you can ask to be added to our wish list, which is maintained at the front desk.
