***Awareness Post***

We've had two requests to search for dogs recently. Sadly they've drowned and at this time of year they have resurfaced before we could get there, leaving their owners with a traumatic task of recovering them.

There are a number of breeds that CANT SWIM or are POOR SWIMMERS. They can sink very quickly and with best efforts to save them it is often not possible.

You rarely get a second chance with water.

Your dog may never have shown an interest in water, or may just paddle. But dogs are instinct reactive and it only takes one accident.

Please don't take the risk. Please keep breeds that are known to be poor swimmers on a lead near water. At least then you have a chance of saving them.

Some of the breeds most known that can't swim/poor swimmers and most at risk are...

• Pugs
• Dachshunds
• Boxers
• Shih Tzu's
• Basset Hounds

Good morning Scruffy To Fluffy friends! 🌞
As most of you may have heard and I’m sure have sincere concerns, there is a Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) outbreak within shelters and rescues in the state of Delaware. With that being known, we are currently NOT accepting any appointments for dogs who have just been rescued/adopted at any shelter or rescue until further notice. If your dog was boarded at a boarding facility, please allow them 7-10 days at home before coming to an appointment to watch for any oncoming symptoms/illnesses. We ask that if you do notice signs or symptoms of your pet not feeling well, to please cancel your appointment and seek veterinarian care.
As a facility for our current booked clients, we are taking the necessary precautions to disinfect after each pet. That includes, grooming tables, tubs, cages, tools, brushes, floors, walls etc to maintain a safe and clean environment for your pet. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to give us a call! Thank you for your continued support and understanding ❤️

Bringing your dog for grooming every 4-6 weeks is extremely beneficial to their health and coat. It will help deter from severe matting and other issues that matting can cause. Brushing AND combing through their coat at home between grooming is also very important, especially if you want your pup to stay at a longer “fluffy” length. 🧼🛁🪮🐩

These babies sure are growing. Today they are 5 weeks old. They are using the litter box more frequently, running, wrestling, and today tried food for the first time. Our kitten season is in full swing with lots of babies. Look for updated pictures for the newbies. The Sanctuary is also looking for donations to help feed all the babies that are coming up.
