New London Farm is so excited to welcome Lynwood to the family. She is as amazing in person as she sounds on paper. If you have wanted to start riding and are waiting for a good time to join the program now is your chance.

Lynwood has lived by the mantra “eat, sleep, ride” since she was 5 years old. Growing up in Virginia and then moving to Arizona as a tween, she has a hunter foundation but has experience in western, dressage, and trail riding. She got her first horse at age 15 and has owned several horses since then, assisting in barn management and teaching riding lessons to help pay board.

Lynwood attended an equine high school in Phoenix, AZ and then earned her degree in Agriculture Communications at the University of Arizona in 2014. Her passion is teaching others the wonders of horses, not just how to ride but also the ins and outs of caring for and owning horses.

Venturing east to Georgia in summer of 2024 and leaving her horses with her best friend and horse trainer in Arizona, Lynwood found her way to New London in an attempt to quench her thirst for the equine soul. Lynwood quickly found herself at home here, resigned from her day job, and joined our program
in October 2024.

When Lynwood is not at the barn, you will find her with coffee in one hand, her son in the other, and a batch of cookies in the oven.

Yesterday New London Farm had its heart broken. When you’re in this business, a part of it is losing animals and we understand that but this loss was not only unexpected but so shocking and heartbreaking. Our sweet Poncho somehow got out of the fencing towards the front of the property and tragically got struck by a car around 1 a.m. To the people who knew and loved Poncho, I don’t need to tell you how incredibly special he was. We are all still in shock and I have no words right now, but I just wanted everyone to know. He will be missed beyond measure and for those of you who loved him the most, it will be a journey of healing ahead. We love you so much, sweet boy.

New London Farm wants to wish Deb, not only one of our favorite students, but also a dear friend, a very speedy recovery. She broke her ankle (not riding) and will not be at the farm for a couple of months. We will miss her terribly. Get well soon Deb.

Our sweet, sweet Hudson. We had to say goodbye to you today, but you will forever be in our hearts and with us here in spirit at New London Farm. You will be missed so much. You have captured the hearts of so many of us. You loved to be naughty, but couldn’t help being sweet. Even when you were naughty, you still found a way to make us laugh about it. Thank you for allowing us to love you and bringing us so much joy.

Arden and Whiskey
We are down at the Georgia fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia watching this pair. I could not be more proud of both of them.

Dear Drivers,
My most valued possession is inside the trailer behind my truck. He stepped into that rolling steel box because I asked him to and he trusts me. He’s a living, breathing creature, and all 1200lbs of him are precariously balanced on four tiny hooves as my truck and trailer wind down the road.
My horse is not a boat or camp trailer, and I cannot stop quickly or turn sharply without risking his safety and even his life.
Know that I will do just about anything to avoid hitting the brakes with a horse in my trailer. However, if your Suburban is hidden in the blind spot behind my two-horse trailer and I do have to stop suddenly, you’re too close to stop without ending up in the trailer with my horse.
When I make those wide turns, I need them to prevent my horse from scrambling. Please give me room and time to turn.
And that large distance between me and the vehicle in front of me? It might look like enough room to fit three sedans bumper to bumper, but it’s actually the distance I need to stop softly and safely without my horse falling.
Those times when we’re headed up a hill, my speed is as fast as I can go. My foot has the accelerator pressed to the floor, and no matter how hard you try, your Honda can’t push us up this hill. I promise I’ll move to the right lane when it becomes available or pull over if I find a safe spot on the shoulder, but until then I ask for your patience and some space.
Lastly, my setup weighs 3 tons, and that much weight prevents me from swerving. When you pass me going 80 mph uphill on a blind corner, you don’t just put my horse at risk: Your driving threatens the lives of the oncoming driver, my passenger, me, you, and everyone in the vehicles behind us.
So next time you see a horse trailer, assume an animal’s in there. Please give the them some space and offer some patience. By driving safely, we’ll all get where we’re going.
Thank you, horse owner

Beginnings

From the moment we drove up the long gravel driveway at what is now New London Farm, we knew there was something special about the place. We were looking for a small farm close to Decatur where we could raise our horses, unplug from the chaos of city life, and let the kids run free. After looking around the farm for several minutes, our 11 year-old son said "I don't know what it is about this place, but it feels like magic." We couldn't have said it better ourselves. From the old 10-stalled barn with rough-hewn wood, to the riding arena, to the pool, and the pastures, it was just an amazing place with an energy that soothes the soul. Come visit our little slice of heaven situated just 15 minutes from Stone Mountain and a short drive from Decatur and Atlanta. The area now known as Snellville was once called New London by the first young settlers form London England in the early 1800's. Come meet our beautiful horses, our mischievous Nigerian dwarf goats, our ridiculously cute miniature donkeys, and our many, many chickens. Escape the city life for an afternoon and take a riding lesson, go on a short trail ride, or just hang out with our animals. We offer horse boarding, horse leases, and host birthday parties as well as special events. We hope to see you soon.
